Fortress Gunship Hekatonkheir's Admiral's Office
"The decoy operation was a success... I suppose."
"Yes, that's right. The vanguard was just a decoy. Our main objective is to infiltrate the Kingdom of Eir with the strongest of the Skiers, allowing them to carry out sabotage operations."
Listening to Admiral Aquas' calm words was Lieutenant General Gilles, who had survived many near-death situations alongside Aquas and General Taurus.
"...Who else knows about this?"
"On this battlefield, it's just me, Taurus... and you. Along with the other highest-ranking royals. But His Majesty doesn't know."
"...I still don't feel right about sending our comrades to certain death."
"It's for victory. Of course, if the vanguard succeeds, we could advance without unnecessary casualties. But after hearing about the technological power of Japan from Sirius... that's when I decided on this operation."
"We've lost many comrades... it's a painful and sad reality."
"It can't be helped... war always comes with sacrifices."
Both Aquas and Gilles closed their eyes in quiet thought, reflecting on their fallen comrades.
The vanguard operation was a plan to invade the port town of the Kingdom of Eir. However, this was merely a secondary objective — it was something that could work out if everything went smoothly. The top brass who had heard of Sirius' report on Japan didn't fully trust the information. Still, they had prepared a backup force — more like a contingency plan, the invasion force that would be led by the Skiers.
The reason why Emperor Orion wasn't informed was because they knew his overconfidence in the nation's military and technology would result in an immediate cancellation of the plan if he learned about it. Naturally, Aquas and the other high-ranking officials would prefer to defeat their enemies with pure force if possible.
"...Japan is likely a nation from a world that possesses anti-submarine weapons. Ha... what a troublesome situation, a truly outrageous world they've come from."
"Then it's highly probable they come from a world comparable to the Republic of Lemuria or the Great Valkian Empire... I wonder if we can truly win in a direct battle."
"In that case, we just need to not fight them directly. There are many ways to win if we use every means at our disposal. With Japan's power, the strength of the Hardique Empire could soar to new heights. We could rival the Republic of Lemuria... And once we achieve that, we won't have to bow down to that crazy religious nation anymore."
"...What about the Great Valkian Empire?"
"The Great Valkian Empire can't win against that nation alone either. Even if we're reluctant, we have no choice but to ally with them to survive. Though... we are already allied with them."
Knock, knock
"Excuse me!"
Kachak!
The door opened, revealing a subordinate.
"We just received word from Unit Leader Yoruch's team. They've successfully infiltrated."
Upon hearing this, Aquas exhaled lightly through his nose and quietly murmured.
"...They've been given those Ur-Nova large magical explosive stones. If they can destroy the Japanese military base with these, the Kingdom of Eir will be left defenseless, like a nest of fledglings with no parents."
