Unbekannt City, Nakanotori Peninsula, Japan
The town—or rather, the city—of Unbekannt, located on the Nakanotori Peninsula, had undergone significant development even before formal diplomatic relations with the Land of Owari were established.
"Japan sure knows how to build these massive structures with such ease, huh?"
"And they're supposedly sturdier than most castle walls... What kind of construction techniques are they using?"
"I see now. No wonder so many architectural technicians from the dwarven nation have come here."
"Even cars and bikes are running all over the place now. But seriously, how do those things even work?"
"Beats me. Rumor has it that Valkia and Sahenantis also have cars, but Japan's are supposedly leagues ahead."
"I don't know much about Valkia, but being better than Sahenantis? That's insane."
"And these smooth roads... They're on a completely different level from cobblestones."
Asphalt was only laid on main roads until recently, but now it covers the entire city. Where there had been only scattered Japanese-style buildings before, the city now boasts numerous structures familiar to Japan, with skyscrapers rising in clusters.
"Check both ways before crossing the crosswalk. Cars cannot stop suddenly."
"Oh, it's a PW."
"Uh... does red mean go?"
"It's green, numbskull."
Sidewalks had also undergone significant improvements alongside the roads. Streetlights, once rare in dim alleyways, were now commonplace. While horse-drawn carts, bicycles, and animals had once dominated the streets, cars now outnumbered them by far. Pedestrian bridges, crosswalks, and traffic lights were becoming widespread.
"There are so many more Japanese buildings now."
"I'm from the beastman nation of Verdil, but I've never seen a city with such sturdy buildings lined up like this."
"If it were just us, building even one of those would take years, unless you're talking about dwarves."
"And Japan can put one up in less than a month. That's no human feat."
"Oh? But it's the WALKERs that are doing the construction, right? They don't have lifespans, so they can work nonstop."
"You mean those iron puppet soldiers? But Japan created them, right?"
"Oh, that's true. So in the end, it's still Japan's doing."
"Exactly."
"Right."
In the realm of commerce, Japanese stores, factories, houses, public facilities, and medical centers were steadily increasing. In contrast, the unique structures of the otherworld—such as medieval wooden buildings—were gradually declining.
"This city has gotten pretty big, hasn't it?"
"Yeah. More stores, more people—it was bound to happen."
"But still... for it to become this... far more magnificent than the capitals of most smaller countries... that wasn't inevitable."
"You think so? Hmm... wait, did you just get here recently?"
