Eastern City Randalucia, Lemurian Empire-occupied Sahenantis

The eastern city of Randalucia, undergoing reconstruction under the Lemurian Empire's military occupation, had suffered unprecedented, catastrophic damage. Reconstruction efforts were underway, but most regarded the destruction as the result of unfortunate accidents or sabotage by the Sahenantis military. Not a single person realized that the true cause was an ICBM attack by Japan.

Heavy machinery and boats were operating at full capacity, but progress on reconstruction was frustratingly slow.

Even minimal repairs to essential housing were not possible; the work had been reduced to removing rubble, and even that wasn't comprehensive. Secondary explosions of the aetheric missiles had caused the lethal miasma they contained to spread rapidly, contaminating everything and everyone in its range. This made removing debris dangerous, as it could trigger further contamination.

"How is the progress on debris removal?"

Becke, the deputy entrusted with managing affairs in Bilze's absence, sat in his office, grappling with reports on the state of reconstruction efforts.

"...We haven't even reached 30% of the projected progress."

"The contamination from the secondary explosion of the aetheric missile is far more extensive than expected. Moving the contaminated debris carelessly could risk spreading the damage even further..."

Becke slumped onto his desk, ruffling his hair in frustration.

'Why, oh why, did this responsibility fall to me...'

Although unbecoming of an officer, at least he refrained from voicing his complaint aloud.

As a low-ranking noble who had only managed to participate in the war due to his connection with Bilze, this assignment had been the chance he'd desperately clawed for. While his position offered little opportunity for a glorious achievement, he had gambled on even the slimmest possibility. Now, he found himself trapped in a hopeless predicament.

'One army division for ground forces and a single air defense unit... Considering Randalucia's size, this garrison is woefully insufficient—completely inadequate...'

The Lemurian Empire Covenant's joint invasion force into Sahenantis, reeling from the unexpected catastrophic losses, had deployed most of their remaining forces for the lightning assault on the Third Capital of Rive and Harlow. As a result, the forward operating base in Randalucia had been left with only the bare minimum of troops. On top of that was the massive explosion incident. Though unconfirmed, there were whispered rumors that it was caused by a new enemy weapon.

"How is the Gate's restoration coming along? Is there any chance it can be repaired?"

"My deepest apologies. We're doing everything we can... but the materials required for repairs were lost in the explosion incident. Frankly, we have almost no prospects for completing the restoration."

"The same goes for our allied forces in Olm and Eze. The restoration of the Gates there is also... progressing poorly."

The teleport Gate, an infrastructure critical to the Lemurian military, was out of commission. This essentially meant the loss of a crucial logistical transport method. Without the device, resupplying weapons, ammunition, reinforcements, and even food was nearly impossible.
