Sorry for the delay.

In this chapter, there's a certain degree of information about the Lemurian Empire included.

I imagine there may be quite a few moments where you'll think, "Huh?", but I appreciate your continued support 🙇‍♂‍

A few hours after the Imperial Council, Barclid Enra Ludegnez, the first emperor of the Second Lemurian Empire, secluded himself in the emperor's study within Grand Holy Castle El Dios. This building, the largest in the Holy City, stood as a symbol of the nation. He sat at a finely crafted, oversized desk, silently poring over reports, affixing his seal, and signing documents.

Behind the desk, a wall of glass offered an unbroken view of the Holy City. The room was lined with towering bookshelves reaching up to the ceiling, filled with books and documents that were difficult to decipher.

Between the shelves, scant open spaces were adorned with decorative statues and paintings, placed more for obligation than aesthetics.

'If I had my way...... I'd clear all this clutter and create a peaceful space. But sacrificing such comfort is a necessary part of being emperor.'

None of these items reflected his personal taste.

Portraits of historical figures, urns with unfamiliar patterns, and abstract paintings of indeterminate meaning—while a connoisseur might recognize their value as masterpieces, the emperor himself lacked such an eye for art. To him, they were nothing but nuisances.

These displays existed only because he occupied the throne. As an individual, he preferred a minimalist room, containing only what was necessary with no distractions. However, as the sovereign of the nation, projecting authority and grandeur—even with decor that clashed with his personal preferences—was essential to maintain the dignity and status expected of an emperor.

At first, this space had felt far from serene. Yet, after a year of conducting his duties here, he had grown surprisingly accustomed to it. Now, he could carry on with his work without paying much attention to his surroundings.

'Adaptation is a frightening thing.'

With this thought, he glanced at the maid standing quietly to the right of the door.

Today's maid assigned to the study remained still and attentive for hours, ready to serve the emperor at any moment. The emperor wondered, 'Doesn't she get tired?' but refrained from voicing the question, returning his attention to the documents on the desk instead.

Brrring! Brrring!

The dedicated landline phone on the desk's corner buzzed. The maid immediately turned her gaze toward the emperor, prepared to act upon his orders. The emperor, reassured by the professionalism and competence of the maids in his service, picked up the receiver.

"It's me... Ah, alright. Show him here."

After receiving the report, the emperor gently replaced the receiver and turned to the maid by the door.

"Sven will arrive in five minutes."

"Understood," the maid replied with a polite bow.

With that, the emperor began tidying up the documents on the desk. His natural meticulousness ensured that by the time Dr. Sven reached the door, everything was in perfect order.

Knock, knock

A firm knock sounded at the door. The maid opened it slightly to confirm the visitor's identity. After doing so, she closed the door again and turned to report to the emperor.
