2x06 (Story B - Seeking help) - The carriage

Lanfinds Siuan. Can they come up with a plan to reunite Lan and Moiraine? Siuanisn't happy to see Lan traveling with Alanna instead of Moiraine and demandsanswers.

"It's Moiraine." (Lan)

Lan saw the carriage and guards of the Amyrlin Seat, and his heart became lighter. Finally, they had found Siuan. He needed to talk to someone who loved Moiraine as much as he did. Someone who could hopefully help him to get his Aes Sedai back.

Alanna had reacted way better than he assumed – in his opinion, they should have included her, Ihvon, and Maksim years ago. The Green Sister was obviously a loyal friend since she didn't hesitate to help Lan after hearing the full story about the Dragon Reborn. She had used the Greens informants to find out about Siuan's exact position, then she and her Warders joined the Malkieri.

But being a loyal friend wasn't the same as talking to Moiraine's lover. As the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan had more power and influence than Alanna, and Lan imagined Moiraine had been more open with Siuan than with Alanna about her feelings. They had exchanged letters over the last six months, all written in their secret code.

The uncrowned king of Malkier had stopped Mandarb once his eyes had seen the carriage, and his companions had followed. They all were waiting for the Amyrlin to come closer.

Now, Alanna turned to Lan. "Do you want me to talk to her?" She didn't need to explain who 'she' was. The Amyrlin should be the only woman in that carriage.

Slowly, Lan shook his head. "I'll do it. I'm the one who is asking for help for my Aes Sedai." A smile appeared on Alanna's face. Confused, Lan furrowed his forehead. "What?"

"You called her 'your' Aes Sedai."

"What else should I call her?"

Alanna tilted her head. "After what Moiraine did to you? If I were you, I would have all kinds of different names for her. And watching you the last few days, I wasn't sure you still think about her as 'your' Aes Sedai."

Lan sighed. "I have been struggling with the entire situation for a while." Then he straightened his back, and his eyes hardened. "I don't know what I have to do, but I will fight to get Moiraine back. She is my Aes Sedai until the day I die."

The Green Sister smiled and nodded. "All right, Gaidin. Let's go talking to the Amyrlin. If anyone can help us with Moiraine, it will be her. Moiraine may be exiled from the White Tower, but she is still an Aes Sedai who needs to listen to the Amyrlin Seat." Alanna turned to her Warders. "Inform the guards that we need to talk to the Amyrlin."

Ihvon and Maksim acted immediately, letting their horses move forward. Lan and Alanna followed slower.

But to everyone's surprise, the guards didn't let them pass. "It's in the middle of the night. You can leave a message with us, but you won't disturb the Amyrlin tonight."

Alanna halted her horse behind her Warders and ensured that the guards would see her golden serpent ring. "My name is Alanna Sedai, Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. I wish to speak to the Amyrlin Seat."

The guards tilted their heads respectfully. "It's a pleasure, Alanna Sedai. Unfortunately, we can't let you pass. The Amyrlin gave clear instructions not to be disturbed."

"It's urgent. I'm sure she will understand."

But Alanna was blocked when she tried to pass the guards. Lan became nervous. The carriage was getting closer, but if the guards didn't allow him to speak to Siuan... He needed her help to find Moiraine!
