Moiraineand Siuan are both pissed and try to push each other into action.

Quote: "From here on out, I row beside you." (Siuan)

"Leave us, Daughter. She is no threat to me."

It was like a slap to the face. But of course, Siuan couldn't know about Moiraine being stilled. The letter Moiraine had sent to her still had to be on its way to the White Tower. Siuan played her part so Leane wouldn't be suspicious about their relationship. Yet, Moiraine couldn't suppress the pain she felt at those words. It was hard to keep her calm Aes Sedai mask in place.

"I'll be right outside, Mother."

It was no secret that Leane didn't approve of Moiraine's behavior toward Siuan. They all had once belonged to the Blue Ajah before Siuan had become Amyrlin and chose Leane to be her Keeper of the Chronicles.

Worse even, since Moiraine had left the White Tower to search for the Dragon Reborn, it looked like Leane had become Siuan's new best friend – which had ended in a heavy argument between Moiraine and Siuan at one night after the Tairen woman had been raised as Amyrlin and they had their public 'fight' to end their friendship.

Siuan had assured Moiraine a thousand times that nothing was going on between her and Leane, but the woman of the Blue Ajah couldn't shake the feeling that her constant absence at the Tower had some heavy consequences on her relationship with Siuan.

Moiraine stared at the Sun Throne while listening to Leane's footsteps to leave the room. She wished Siuan had already read her letter. Now, she would have to explain to her that she had been stilled.

Could she do it? It was hard to speak about being stilled even after all those months. Moiraine remembered very well how her voice broke when she talked to Lan about Ishamael 'cutting her off' from the One Power.

Telling Siuan would be so much harder. How would the powerful Amyrlin react? Would she ask for the golden serpent ring? What if she decided to throw Moiraine out? Was it possible Siuan turned her back on the Cairhien woman? Light, why hadn't she already read the letter?

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Surprised, the woman of the Blue Ajah turned her head toward her lover. For the first time since she had entered the room, Siuan looked at her openly. Her voice was calm, but Moiraine saw the disappointment in her lover's eyes. Didn't tell her? What was Siuan talking about?

Moiraine's throat felt tight, and she doubted one word could cross her lips, so she threw a questioning look at the Tairen woman. Hopefully, Siuan was still good at reading her and would tell her what she meant.

"Why didn't you tell me you'd been stilled?"

Siuan knew! When Moiraine felt tears burning in her eyes, she quickly turned her head away, avoiding the pity in Siuan's eyes. She had imagined countless times how that revelation would turn out, but never had she expected to see pity in her lover's eyes. Disgust, apathy, anger,... but never pity.

"Six months of letters, Moiraine. And not one word about this... this violation."

Finally, there was some accusation in Siuan's voice, which helped Moiraine to focus. They had indeed written countless letters back and forth, but Moiraine had never mentioned what had happened to her at the Eye of the World. And her last letter was on its way to Tar Valon. So, how did Siuan know about her being stilled? Moiraine didn't tell many people about her condition, and she doubted Verin would go to the Amyrlin, telling her...

Verin wouldn't go see Siuan, but Lan definitely would. He is the only one who knows about our relationship, and that Siuan would want to know what happened to me.
