After talking to Rand, Moiraine goes to the rooftop terrace to calm herself.

Angrily, Moiraine reached the rooftop terrace. Luckily, it was empty, which meant she didn't have to control herself. She leaned on the balcony, grabbing the stone while taking deep breaths to calm herself.

You don't tell me what to do anymore.

Oh, she wanted to scream. That stupid boy! For twenty years, she had been searching for the Dragon Reborn to find him before the Dark did. She had given her life for that mission. All her dreams, all her plans for her future, her life with Siuan... all that for a silly boy who treated her like it was nothing. He had barely seen anything from the world. Yet, he acted like he had the same knowledge, and as if she was the student who needed guiding.

Light! She should've voted for Siuan to search for the Dragon. The Tairen woman knew how to lead others. She wouldn't allow the boy to be such a brat. Surely, Rand wouldn't dare talk to Siuan like he talked to Moiraine.

"I take it your conversation didn't go well."

Moiraine swirled around. Lan climbed up the last stairs, then stopped there. It wasn't fair to snap at him since it hadn't been him who angered her, but Moiraine couldn't stop herself from glaring at him.

"That bad, hm?" Apparently, her face was enough to tell him how angry she was. Or he tried to read her emotions through the bond. "What did he say?"

The woman of the Blue Ajah snorted, then started to walk up and down. She needed to find her calm again. She wouldn't allow Rand to turn her into a fool. Besides, she didn't want to speak because she didn't trust her voice.

Lan waited a few minutes, letting her run up and down before he tried again. "Don't keep your anger to yourself, Moiraine. Talk to me."

This time, the Cairhien woman chose the balustrade that was as far away from her Warder as possible. What should she do now? Rand refused to listen. She could try talking to him again, but doubted it would change his perspective. But who could convince him to go to Tear?

Apparently, Lanfear had also not been successful. And none of his friends would do Moiraine the favor of talking him into going.

"Moiraine," Lan said softly.

The woman of the Blue Ajah bit her tongue before she snapped at her Warder to go down and check on his lover. Lan was not the enemy.

His hands grabbed her shoulders gently, then his fingers started to work on the tight knots. He didn't use much pressure, but it was still uncomfortable. A painful groan crossed Moiraine's lips, and she tried to escape his hands but was caught by the pillars and balustrade. Blood and ashes! How did he find those spots?!

Whimpering, Moiraine sank to her knees since it was the only direction she had left to escape. Lan's hands let go of her shoulders, but he caught her before her knees actually touched the floor. His reflexes were as fast as ever.

"Stop," she growled.

The uncrowned king of Malkier chuckled. "Look at that. She speaks."

Her anger was still present, so she turned her head away. Couldn't he see she was trying not to hurt him?

"Come on. Sit down."

Hesitantly, Moiraine allowed Lan to guide her to a chair. She would rather continue walking. How would sitting help her with her anger?

But it looked like Lan had a plan. He kneeled before her, taking her left hand in his and starting to massage her palm like he always did whenever she had channeled a lot.
