Thereunion scene between Moiraine and Lan from their points of view. Atfirst, we get to see the scene through Moiraine's eyes.
Quote: "You have to trust someone at some point, Moiraine. You can't do this by yourself." (Lan)
Restlessly, Moiraine walked up and down since the moment the two guards had led her to that little room. A prisoner. There was no better way to describe her situation than that. Siuan had turned her into a prisoner.
The two guards were positioned outside her door and ordered not to let her leave – neither that room nor the palace.
And before you ask, this is me being the Amyrlin giving you a direct order.
The Amyrlin had spoken. It was still hard for Moiraine to accept that her lover had used her position as the Amyrlin Seat to give her an order. Instead of talking about Rand and how they could help him, Siuan had only criticized her for not telling her about being stilled and for pushing Lan away.
Light! What is she planning?
But Siuan wasn't the only problem. Somehow, Lan had managed not to go with Alanna to the White Tower and ended up joining Siuan.
You know he told her. That you found the Dragon.
Could it be that simple? Had it been Lan's revenge for her cruel words? She had refused to go on that mission with him, so he started to include other sisters? Who else had he told about Rand? The Reds? Were Liandrin and her sisters here to gentle the Dragon?
Sighing, Moiraine rubbed her temple. This was ridiculous. Lan would never talk to the Red Ajah. Maybe he was angry with her but wouldn't give up on the boy. Nynaeve would never forgive him if he did.
The eyes of the Cairhien woman fell on the door. Should she risk it? It was possible that Siuan had only tried to test her. Maybe the guards had already left, letting her think she was still guarded.
Quickly, Moiraine crossed the room and opened the door. She had to get out of the palace. Siuan wasn't willing to listen to her, and she couldn't meet Lan. If Siuan was already criticizing her, what would the Malkieri do?
But when the door opened, the woman of the Blue Ajah noticed her lover hadn't joked. The guards stood in place like Siuan had ordered. Blood and ashes! She was a bloody prisoner!
"Do you need anything, Moiraine Sedai?"
At least they respected her title. It was a good thing they still acknowledged she was an Aes Sedai. Would they stop her if she tried to leave? Would they inform Siuan?
"I need air."
Moiraine made one step, then the lances crossed before her, keeping her from leaving. This was ridiculous!
"Forgive us, Moiraine Sedai. We have our orders to keep you from leaving this room. If you need anything, we'll get it for you, but we must insist you stay put."
Moiraine's fingers itched. If only she could use Saidar to... no one would know about her disappearance before it was too late.
Calmly, she watched the two lances. Lan had taught her some fighting skills. The man had insisted she needed it in case she couldn't use Saidar because of Whitecloaks or for a thousand other reasons. If she grabbed one of those lances, she could...
"Please, don't."
Surprised, Moiraine lifted her eyes. The guard looked at her knowingly.
"We don't want to fight you. Please return to your room or tell us what you need. This doesn't have to end badly."
