Moiraine fights to leave Rhuidean.
Moiraine coughed when she hit the ground. Blinking, she tried to understand where she was. Lanfear. They had been in the desert, and the woman had-
Confused, the Cairhien woman stared at the fog. She could feel the sand under her fingers, but where was that fog coming from? Surely, Lanfear wouldn't care about hiding her dead body.
Groaning, Moiraine tried to move, but her entire body was aching. She felt exhausted, and her throat felt dry. How long was she out there already?
The ground beneath her moved, but it didn't seem different when she looked at it. Or... were those weaves?
Blood and ashes! Is that another one of Lanfear's games?! Where am I?!
Again, Moiraine tried to push herself up, but her arms didn't play along. She was too weak. Cursing inwardly, she turned her head as best as possible, though it was hard and painful. There was fog everywhere. No buildings. No rocks. Nothing that could help Moiraine explain where she was. And where was Lanfear?!
Suddenly, the woman of the Blue Ajah stopped. There were three big rings behind her. Three rings. Why did they look so familiar? Was that an illusion created by the Daughter of the Night? But where had she seen them before?
A memory hit Moiraine. There had been a woman floating in the air when she had seen those rings for the first time. Aviendha!
Immediately, another memory hit her. Moiraine Sedai, in Rhuidean you will find three rings. Step through any one, and you will see your future laid before you, again and again in variation. You will see a thousand thousand turns of the wheel, and through this you will know, without doubt, some things that must be for you and some that must not.
Rhuidean. She had entered Rhuidean... with Rand... to find out why the Wise Ones had seen her going there. They had said that she would die if she didn't go.
You will see a thousand thousand turns of the wheel.
Moiraine felt like she needed to vomit. All those possible futures. All those possible scenarios. Some of them would never come true – they had been simply ridiculous – but they were stuck in her brain. And her death... Light! Lanfear had killed her in so many ways! What was that supposed to mean?
Groaning, the Aes Sedai rolled on her side. Her head was killing her. All those visions. It was too much for her. Her brain couldn't take it. It had received too much information to understand.
She managed to lift her hand to her throat, but there was nothing. No cut. That was a start. Then she took a quick check-up on the rest of her body. It seemed like she wasn't injured. Whatever she had seen in those rings, it hadn't affected her body.
Sighing, Moiraine rolled back on her belly. She was exhausted, but knew she had to get out of there. And the fog was not helping. Again, she tried to push herself into a sitting position, but her arms didn't even react.
What should she do? Should she call for Rand? But her throat felt so dry. She doubted that it would be able to create a sound anyone could hear.
Frustrated, Moiraine let her eyes wander around again. There had to be something that could help her. Perhaps some water? Or one of the Aiel that would come looking for her? Melaine wouldn't come. But what about Bair? And where was Aviendha? How did she leave? Did she have help?
Sadly, the fog didn't help at all. Instead of receiving any help, Moiraine noticed how it became harder to open her eyes again. Her body was exhausted and couldn't take it anymore.
