122. Mahir will go to his people
Nandini's POV
"Mom," Mahir's face twinkled with relief.
"Mahir," I rushed to him and lowered down on his body to hug him. "Oh Mahir, you will kill your mom one day."
"I am sorry, mom. But I really didn't do anything this time." I clutched my mouth to keep the sobs in because Mahir's voice lacked the usual chiming I was fond of. "The rogues bursted in the school and they got me. They took me up in a room and threatened to kill me."
I blinked tears out of my sight as I regarded him from head to toe. My son was naked from the top and a bandage was around his little torso. It was completely red in the middle as if someone just spilled red paint on the fine white strips.
A drip was being supplied to him whose syringe pierced the back of his left hand. I removed hair from his face and kissed him over and over again.
"Oh darling, I was so scared." I hugged him as Mahir revealed what further happened in that room in his school.
So he was being saved by Manik and those two men. But they walked in on Mahir dealing with the rogues on his own. It was purely an accident because of which Mahir got hurt. I was relieved to know that Manik had nothing to do with it.
"Manik really tried to save me, mom. He's really a nice man." Hearing him call his father with his name made me uneasy.
So Manik didn't tell him anything. But I thought he entered his ward because he wanted his son to know who he belonged to.
I recalled seeing Manik come out of Mahir's ward two minutes back. He was in tears and shaking recklessly. Probably he was too shocked and guilty to tell his son that his father was an asshole.
"Mahir," I might want him out of Mahir's life forever, I am not a bitch. "You miss your dad a lot, don't you?"
He vigorously shook his head, causing my eyes to widen in horror. I kissed his forehead and asked him to not move as he was injured.
"Well, it was supposed to be a surprise but since you're injured and miss your dad a lot, I won't beat around a the bush." I stated it in a fun-filled voice.
"Oh mom, what is it? Did dad send a reply to my letter?"
"We don't just have his reply alone, Sweetie, but your dad brought himself here for you."
"What?" Mahir yelled excitedly. He tried to get up but I glared at him and he lied down again. "Dad is here. In San Francisco?"
"Mmm-hmm," I winked at him while my eyes burned with freshly forming tears.
I didn't think that it would unfold like this, I am still glad that I wouldn't have to lie to Mahir more about his father.
"I hope you're not lying to me, mom." An excruciating smile curled up the corners of my mouth as this was the first time I was telling the truth to him about his dad.
"Your dad wanted to show himself on your birthday with lots of presents. But he thought he would surprise you another way before telling you that it's him."
"Argh, now you are really beating around the bush, mom! Why don't you just tell me where my dad is?"
"He was just here, sweetie. You didn't see him?" A heavy weight was lifting off my chest.
"Wait, where? I didn't see him coming?" Mahir craned his neck towards the window. "Did he come and go through the window?"
I chuckled and kissed his hand, "No, baby. He was just here talking to you."
