99. A deal

Nandini's POV

"You are finally in the right hands, Nandini. I'll take care of you if you cooperate." Harshad Saxena added.

It didn't help the vortex of adrenaline within me though. I shook and whimpered. My body became awfully cold and I curled up again. Even if it was against my will and felt inappropriate curling in the arms of the man I should run away from, I snuck in closer. So his warmth could engulf me and calm down the tempest of emotions that rose in my chest.

Harshad settled down in the car with me in his lap. Since my face was pressed into his chest, then his coat on my head, I didn't see the old asshole and his men. But they were there. All of them. I could feel their eyes on us and the car.

I've never felt so weak before. So restless that I would be forced to ask an enemy for help. Yeah, that's what I was about to do.

The plea was on the tip of my tongue when Harshad announced, "Start the car."

I closed my eyes and pressed my lips together. I didn't see Stanley Archibald before the car started moving. Or anyone else, even Harshad, because I somehow fell asleep in his arms throughout the ride.

When I stirred to consciousness again, this time I was in a warm room. Naked still. But under warm covers. The room was dimly lit as though it was purposely done so I could have a nice nap. My heart became heavier soon as I looked at my hands.

There were scars. Nail marks. And bruises. They reminded me of my time in Stanley Archibald's captivity and how I lost my mother. Possessiveness engulfed me as I finally touched a hand to my naked belly.

I don't remember bleeding but the pain in my stomach brought tears to my eyes. I was a doctor and I could still not be sure if I still had my baby in there or not. The ache was intolerable. It became fierce in the coming seconds that I wriggled and tried to get out of the bed.

Trying to crawl towards the door, I held the sheet to my chest. I was close to reaching the door when it opened, the hinges creaking lightly.

"Awake?" Harshad stepped in.

A wary shiver shot up my spine. I tried to move back but he was already hovering over my frame. I didn't get the chance to open my mouth, much less shriek, when he put his hands around me and picked me up.

The pain morphed into apprehension and licked at my insides. As soon as I touched the bed, I tried to put space between us by crawling away.

"You need to stop being so scared around me. I am your savior." He said.

I whimpered as I held the blanket tighter around my breasts. His eager eyes trailed down my curled figure. Then a smile danced on his mouth as he lazily raised his eyes.

"You're too scared to serve me, Nandini." He said.

Moving in closer, he forcefully placed a hand on my waist and yanked me. I shrieked but settled down as he put a finger on his lips, "Shh, calm down. I am the last person you should be scared of."

If I weren't traumatized by my mom's death or feeling bare even though I was covered, I would have pasted a tight slap on his face. His gaze made my spine melt. The evil intention behind his smirk brought vulgar images to my mind. I could feel him thinking about using me.

"You need to calm down, Nandini. Calm down." He whispered as his fingers brushed on my skin over the blanket.

Disgust consumed me. Shutting my eyes tight, I forced myself to hang in there. I didn't want to give him a hint about my pregnancy. I've hidden it well from the other monsters. I couldn't let it spill now.
