120. Mahir is my son alone
Manik's POV
It was as if my soul departed from my body when I saw Mahir falling thud on the ground. I didn't waste a second as I rushed to him and picked him up in my arms.
"M-Manik..."
"You'll be alright, Kiddo. You will..." My tone bled dry as I held him to my chest.
The anger to shred the rogues intensified. I lifted my eyes only to see flesh, bones and blood on the spot they were lying not long ago. And amidst the mess was Rogue covered in blood, his claws dangling with pieces of flesh.
I was glad he did it because I would have taken them to my dungeons in NYC to torture them. I would have... Fuck, I couldn't dwell on what I would have done to them as Mahir fainted in my arms.
"H-he fainted!" I blinked my teary lashes.
"I'll get the car out." Conor announced and we followed him outside the room.
The teachers and Principal covered their mouths with their hands when I walked into sight. I didn't wait for them to take a glance at Mahir and rushed him out of the school. He was bleeding a lot and I was horrified something might happen to him.
I settled in the backseat in Conor's car while Rogue assured me that he would take care of the situation and deal with the Principal.
Mahir was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at once. Conor asked for the doctor incharge and he went inside to treat Mahir. When he came out after fifteen minutes, Conor approached him.
My mind was a mess, my eyes scorching with tears and something else I couldn't put into words. Though it was I who brought Mahir in my arms to the hospital, it was Conor who communicated with the doctors and fulfilled the formalities.
"The wound on him is not deep but it's awfully wide. We'll let you know everything soon enough, sir." I heard the doctor say.
The second time he came out of the ICU, he was smiling.
"We cleaned and bandaged his wound, sir. It was too wide to stitch or stick together. Although he's not in any danger, we'll have to keep him under observation for a night before we say anything." He stated.
The doctors thought that Mahir was struck by a huge dog. They wanted to conduct tests and see which dog it was but Conor lied again. He told them it was a pet dog and they weren't required to do anything more than tend to his wound.
Since I've already sent out a message to Raghav to come here, we didn't want the mortal doctors bothering themselves with work that would make no sense to them. Moreover, we don't want them investigating Mahir's case deeper and drawing conclusions that would pose threats to our kind.
Only when the same doctor said that Mahir was good and that no further observation will be needed did serenity fill my heart. I allowed my mouth to widen in a smile and responded to Conor's hug with the same excitement as he exhibited.
Rogue hugged me too when he came back.
"Did the Principal inform his mother?" I asked when we parted.
Rogue huffed a sigh, "She was very skeptical. I wonder what was important to her. Her job and school's reputation or the life of an innocent five year old?"
"Did she inform his mother or she didn't?"
"She did." Rogue scratched his nape. "But she wasn't very happy about that."
Rogue disclosed that Mahir's grandmother was the richest rancher in San Francisco county. She sent out food products and vegetables to the majority of the stores and malls. She wasn't the woman she showed to the world when it came to court and hearings.
