Ten

Riley's POV:

Maya has been gone for 10 minutes. She said she'd be right back. I went to look for her. I went into my room and found her putting a big black case into the corner of my room. She noticed me too quickly before I could pin point what it was and threw it behind the curtain. She turned around quickly and said, "Oh hey Riley. You scared me. I was just about to come back." I acted like I didn't see anything and went along with it. Why is she hiding stuff from me? She told me I'd find out by tonight so it better explain everything. We walked back out to the living room and saw Farkle and Lucas asleep on the couch. We decided it was time to go to bed ourselves. I went to the bathroom to wash my face while Maya headed to bed before me.

Mayas POV:

Awe ranger Rick and Farkle are asleep. They're cute. I laughed under my breath and walked to bed. Riley told me we should go to bed. My heart dropped. This is it Maya. It may not seem like a big deal, which it's really not. But to Riley everything is really important to her. It's only because she wants the best for me. I climbed into bed and looked at the album on the pillow next to me. I heard Riley's footsteps coming so I quickly turned over and acted as if I was asleep.

Riley's POV:

I finish my night routine and walk into the room and see Maya already asleep. I quietly close the door and whisper, "Maya?" No answer. I think about how she never told me what she was hiding from me. That made me a little angry. I climb into bed and lay my head down. Ow. What the hell did I just lay on? I thought. I lifted my head up and picked something up. I leaned over and turned on my bedside lamp. And read the note, "Hey Riles. Happy Birthday. Ever since we were little you've always meant so much to me, but I've never been able to prove it. I've stepped up and had this planned for a few weeks now. Staying up all night planning this trip and recording what you're holding in your hands right now just for you. I never knew what I was capable of until I decided to see what I could do besides drawing and painting. I had a hidden talent. Who knew? I've been hiding this from everyone for 3 years now and it's about time I show it and who else but my favorite person to show it to first? You. So happy birthday I love you so much and I hope you don't go all out on me for hiding this. It comes right from my heart. Thanks for being there for me always. <3
- Maya" I started to tear up. This explains everything. I never should've gotten mad at her. I looked over at Maya who was still asleep. I wanted to talk to her about it but I didn't want to wake her. What confused me is why she did hide it from me. I've told her everything about me as soon as it happened. Although... When I was getting bullied I didn't tell her until a few weeks after it's been happening, but that doesn't even compare to 3 years. Sigh. I got up and put the CD in my laptop and I listened to the whole 11 minute album. All beautiful songs written, played, and sung by MY Maya Hart. My favorite is seamless. It sounds just like us together. I went to bed that night with a big smile. It was a great birthday.
