Thirty Nine

Riley's POV:

Farkle starts to look concerned and asks me, "Was she like this all day?" I reply, "Well not really. She was talking after she woke up. Then fainted for a minute, got weaker and now she's asleep again." Josh sighs and says, "I hope this blows over."
Suddenly, I hear her phone ringing over Josh on FaceTime:
Ross😊 is Calling...
I open my eyes wide and look over at Lucas and Farkle who shake their heads quickly. Lucas whispers, "We'll talk about that later. Let her alone for now." I mouth back, "Okay." And let the call go to voicemail.
Josh cuts in and says, "Hello? Why are you guys so quiet?" I quickly say, "Oh our wifi cut out and we lost connection." I believably lied on the spot! Wow, Maya would be proud. Just after I say that Maya kicks her foot out and moves her hand from her head to my lap. She squints her eyes at me and groans. I pout and rub her head and say, "If I could trade places with you I would. I feel really bad." Farkle asks, "Do you want some hot tea?" She slowly nods her head and gives a thumbs up. Farkle quickly walks out to brew some tea. I say to Josh, "Okay I'm gonna hang up the call because we're gonna take a little care of her. We'll let you know how she is later." He says, "Okay. Tell her I love her and hope she feels better when she wakes up." As he says that, Maya tilts her head up and looks at Josh and gives him a warming smile. He says, "Oh you're awake!" And laughs. She says, "Very much so. Bye Josh." I wave to him and hang up.
I look down at Maya and say, "Okay. Spill it. Have you and Ross been talking?" She gives me a weird look and coughs and says with a weak, raspy voice, "It depends on how you take that. He told me he'd call me later today to see if we could go out and grab some coffee, and I guess he never did. Why do you ask?" I say, "A couple minutes ago he called and I decided to let it go since you were asleep." She says, "Well we just have a close friendship." Then she mumbles, "He might want more, buuut" I say, "WHAT? Maya you can't do that to Josh." She says weakly, "Riles it's okay I wouldn't do that. I love Josh. And even if I did, what he doesn't know wouldn't kill him, right?" I shake my head and say, "No. You're wrong. He would eventually find out. The truth always comes out. Besides your guilty conscience would kill you." She raises an eyebrow and says, "I don't have one remember? And don't worry. I'm not a whore Riley. Like damn." I laugh and say, "I know I just don't want you to fall for Ross. Because once you do, the media will find out. And once the media finds out, shit goes down from there." She nods her head and says, "I know." And sneezes then sniffles. Lucas comes from behind me and places his hand on my shoulder and gives it a squeeze. I watch as Maya's blinks become longer and longer as her eyelids start to fall. She starts to look pale again and before she passes out, she looks at me and says weakly, "Riley." I hold and rub her cold hand. I say to Lucas, "Something just isn't right. This is the second time she fainted today. Should I bring her to a doctor?" He shrugs and says, "Honestly, if she were worse I would say yes, but I think she'll be fine by tomorrow. I think she's okay" I ask him concerned and scared, "You promise?" He smiles and nods his head.
After about 7 minutes, I watch Maya's color slowly return. "Phew." I say. She yawns and curls up into a ball. I push the hair out of her face and say, "Hey Peaches." She asks, "I passed out again didn't I?" I nod my head and frown. She says, "I had a weird dream." I ask, "What was it about?" She starts, "Well... I-uh.. Went to a party and hooked up with Ross." My mouth dropped. Is she serious? I say, "You're kidding right? Maya why was that the last thing you were thinking about?" She throws her hands up and says, "I don't know!! I started to think about the party with Josh then I thought about what it would be like if I dated Ross." I roll my eyes and ask, "We can talk about that later. In the meantime, are you feeling any better?" I take out the thermometer and take Maya's temperature. I say, "99.6. It went down." She says, "Yeah my head doesn't hurt as much and I don't feel as weak." I nod my head and think to myself. I can't let her hurt my uncle. What if she catches feelings for Ross?

Maya is getting a little better 😅 but now she dreamt of Ross! Oooh! Do Maya and Ross have a secret thing going on? What will happen with Riley and Maya and Josh and Maya?
