Eighty Nine

Riley's POV:

After Farkle and Lucas left, Maya decided to stay in bed and take a nap. I went out into the kitchen to see who was here since I heard talking before. Being my usual clumsy self, I almost trip down the steps which catches everyone's attention. I see that uncle Josh, uncle Shawn, and my aunt Morgan are here. At least that's who I think she is. I've never met her before. She's been studying in NYU this whole time. She's great in art so Maya would like her a lot. My mom says catching me, "Oo jeez sweetie be careful." My dad says, "I heard there was a private concert going on up there, huh?" I say awkwardly, "Uh yeah. You guys heard that?" Shawn says, "Yeah I was really enjoying that song too." I say, "Oh yeah me too it's fun to play." Josh says, "Where is Maya anyway?" My mom says stirring the pot, "Go get her dinner is almost ready." I say, "No. She's napping. She didn't sleep last night, she stayed up writing 3 songs." Josh pouts and says, "Damn."
I turn to Shawn to actually greet him. As I let go of my hug I see my "aunt Morgan" whispering something to my dad and I heard her say my name. Something in my head doesn't agree with me about that and I say with a sassy attitude, "Excuse me? If you're gonna talk about me, say it to my face." I immediately cover my mouth and say to myself, "Where did that come from?!" My mom calms me down rubbing my shoulder and says, "Riley this is your aunt Morgan. You've never seen her before but shes been waiting to meet you." I awkwardly say, "Hah, uh sorry! Hi aunt Morgan." She hugs me and says, "Little Riley oh my, look at you. You're Cory with Topanga's hair!" Uncle Shawn says, "HEY! That's what I said."
Aunt Morgan says, "So did you guys hear about that new celebrity?" I say, "That's very vague. Who?" She says, "I can't remember her name. But she's young, like your age Riley. And she apparently lives here close to us!" I look over at Josh and we try to hold back our laughter. We realized she's talking about Maya. This can be fun. I say, "Oh yeah! Her name starts with an M. I met her a few years back. Wanna see the picture?" She says, "You could show me any hobo off the street with you and I would believe you. I have not a clue what she looks like." I look over at Josh and nudge him to get Maya. He says getting up politely, "I'll be right back, Excuse me." And walks up stairs. I say to Aunt Morgan, "So how did you hear about her?" She says, "Well I heard her songs recently on iTunes and I read a bunch of articles about her but never had the chance to see what she looks like." Then Maya comes shuffling down into the kitchen with Josh leading behind her. She sits down and aunt Morgan says, "Have you ever heard of her?" She says pretending to be confused, "Who?" She says, "Some new young singer. Her name starts with an M. She's very talented." Maya says, "Oh yeah! She's like super pretty and crazy talented. I love her music." I jokingly roll my eyes and say, "Aunt Morgan what's your favorite song of hers?" She says, "Hmm. Probably Eyes Wide Open." Maya says under her breath, "Good choice." And quietly sings the chorus. Aunt Morgan says, "Yeah that song! You know you actually sound a lot like her! Plus you both are around the same age and live close to each other. You could be the same person." Maya looks at me and says, "Is she serious?" I slowly nod my head and she says, "Well thank you." Auggie says confused, "Wait isn't Maya-" I kick his leg under the table and he says, "Ohhh." Aunt Morgan says, "You're actually really good. Have you ever tried to be a singer?" Maya tries not to laugh and says, "Yeah...I've tried." Aunt Morgan says, "And what happened?" Maya says, "Oh you know, too much competition out there." Aunt Morgan nods and my dad says, "Really Morgan? How are you not getting this?" She says innocently, "Getting what?" I say, "Okay I'm done. This is painful. Here I'll show you a picture of her anyway." I pull out my phone and we all point right at Maya. She smiles and does jazz hands and says, "How ya doin?" Aunt Morgan says, "So wait... You're the singer?" I throw my head in my hands and viciously nod my head. I say, "Aunt Morgan.. THIS is Maya Hart. The singer that you're talking about." She stands up and says, "WOAH THAT WENT RIGHT OVER MY HEAD!" Shawn says, "Yeah no kidding, Morg. Now that that's over. Maya how's all that going?" She shrugs and says, "Pretty well. Just kinda jam packed unless I'm home. A lot of traveling and last minute things. But I love it."
Josh says, "That song you were singing sounded real good." She says, "Oh... You heard that?" I say, "Yeah that's what I said too."
Aunt Morgan says, "See, if I listened to that conversation I would've got it right away." We all say sarcastically, "Yeah riiiiight." At the same time Maya says, "Not a chance." I laugh at her remark and she laughs too.
Maya says, "So. Morgan. Tell me about yourself." Aunt Morgan taps her fingers on the table and says, "Well I major in art at NYU. I never was a great student. Kinda a slacker. I don't know there's not much about me. I'm a boring person." Maya says, "Art. Hm. Ya know I like you now!" I laugh and aunt Morgan says, "So that you're famous, are all the guys all over you? Have you met any celebrities?" She looks up at Josh and says smiling, "Just this goof here. Yeah I've met just about every one of them you can name."
My mom puts the dinner on the table and we all dig in.
After we finished, we all talk some more then Maya and I passed out for the night.

Okay so I don't remember if I told y'all before but I'm gonna end the book at 100 chapters. I have a cliff hanger ending in mind for it too ;)) so if you guys really enjoy I'll make a sequel :) by the way thank you so much for 600 reads. I expected no more than like 20. I love you guys💕
