Fourty Seven

Maya's POV:

I decided that I wanted to enjoy a night along the beach like I used to do. I say, "I'll catch up with you guys later. I'm gonna go for a walk along the beach like old times." Riley says, "Okay have fun." And waves to me. I wave back and start in the other direction. As I'm walking along the side walk I see a familiar body figure coming towards me. I continue walking, but I slow my pace. The figure starts running so I run back the other way. I hear the familiar voice say, "Maya! It's just me, Ross!" I stop in my tracks and turn around. He pulls me into a hug and I say, "Oh hey. Sorry Ross. You just kinda freaked me out."  He laughs and says, "I haven't seen you in a while." He walks along side of me. His gorgeous, shiny, blonde locks of hair blow in the light California breeze. I smile and say, "Yeah it's been a while." He says, "I've really missed you." I can't help but blush at the sound of him saying that. I say, "I missed you too." He lightly holds my hands and stops and faces me. I look into his amazing brown eyes. He side smiles at me. He leans in and lightly, but passionately kisses my soft lips. I close my eyes and kiss him back. He slowly pulls away and says, "I'm sorry. I know you belong to Josh. I shouldn't have done that." I say in a whisper, "It's okay. If it didn't feel so right I wouldn't have kissed you back." He smiles and holds my hand tighter as we walk down the sidewalk. I start to think how mad Riley would be at me for kissing Ross. I know I told her I wouldn't keep anything from her, but this is different. This won't affect her if she doesn't know. So it's gonna stay that way.
As we're walking, I see another familiar figure sprint out of an alley and come right towards me. I feel Ross' grip on my hand get tighter and can feel him tense up. As the person gets closer and closer I can recognize him. It's Justin... I ask, "Justin what are you doing here?" He says, "I wanted to see you, baby. I missed you." Ross' eyes fill with anger and asks coldly, "BABY? Who is this guy, Maya?" I say defending myself, "He was never anything to me. I swear Ross. He's in love with me and I ran out on him because I didn't feel the same way." Ross glares at Justin and pushes him back against his chest and says, "Get away bro. She doesn't want you." Justin laughs and points to Ross looking at me and says, "This is the goof you love? This is Josh?" I put my head in my hands and say, "No! This is Ross." Justin says, "Alright Ross. Listen here, asshole. Lay a hand on me again and you won't wanna see what happens next." Ross laughs and says, "Oh yeah? Watch me." Ross punches Justin right across the face. I flinch and scream, "STOP!" Justin runs over to me and grabs me by my arm and drags me into the alley way. Ross comes after me and says, "MAYA! MAYA! LET HER GO!" Justin throws me on a chair and slaps me across the face. He says, "This is for walking out on me." I hold back my tears and give him a death glare. Suddenly I feel another person's presence come from behind me. The person puts their hand on my shoulder and whispers in my ear, "Guess who, bitch." I immediately recognize the voice. It's the man that almost shot Riley. I shoot up but Justin pushes me right back down. The man says, "I don't think I've ever introduced myself yet. I'm Harvey." I roll my eyes and say harshly, "I don't think I've ever given a fuck. Let me go. What do you want with me?" Harvey punches me in the eye and says louder, "Don't you get a fucking attitude with me. Little bitch. I can knock you out in a second. And that little boyfriend of yours you were walking with won't do well either." I look over his shoulder and see Justin dragging Ross into the alley way. Ross has a blind fold stuffed in his mouth and his hair is all messed up. I hold back my tears and feel my body tensing up. I say, "What do you want from me? I didn't do anything to you." Justin says, "You hurt me. You ran away from me when I let out my true and deep feelings for you." Ross spits out the blindfold and says harshly, "Oh suck it up pussy. We've all been hurt before. You don't need to handle it like this. Be a man." Harvey throws his hand across Ross' face and says, "Don't you fucking speak." I say, "Then what did I do to YOU? How are you even here? How did you find me? You should be in jail." He says, "Because you ruined my chances with a nice kill. Your friend would've been a nice shot. You somehow managed to take the bullet fast enough and still survive. So I'm here to change that. She dies tonight when I find her." He's threatening to hurt Riley. I immediately got tense. I say loudly and confidently, "Don't you dare lay a finger on her. If you're gonna do anything. Do it to me. Please." Harvey says, "Alright then." And punches me on the side of my head and knocks me out instantly. Last thing I heard was, "NO! MAYA!"
I woke up in the same spot a few hours later. I look over at Ross covered in blood. I don't see Harvey or Justin any where. I slowly and quietly stand up and turn around. Harvey is laid back on a chair and Justin is on his phone facing the other way. I take out my phone and text Riley:
Maya: Riley
Maya: Riley I need you to answer
Maya: I'm in trouble with Ross
Maya: Justin and the man that shot me are holding us in an alley way.
Maya: he beat us badly
Maya: please
Maya: RILEY
Maya: i need you

For the next 10 minutes I continue to spam Riley's phone. No answer. She must've fell asleep. I tap Ross and he looks over at me. He says in a whisper, "We need to get out of here." I nod my head. I ask, "What happened after I blacked out?" Ross says, "Well Harvey went over to me and started to just punch and kick me. I managed to get through it. He looks over at you and then he told Justin he'd finish you off in the morning.. Maya, we need to go soon." I look back at Justin and Harvey and back at Ross. I say, "On 3, we run back to my house." Ross nods his head. My heart drops to my stomach. I start to get scared. What if they catch us? We're goners. I hold back the feeling of blacking out again. Harvey punched me in my temple. Surprised I didn't die. I count down on my fingers. I hold up one... Then two..... Then three. Ross and I shoot up and sprint out of the alley and run down the side walk. I hear screams behind us, "GET BACK HERE! WERE NOT DONE! WERE GONNA FIND YOU!" Ross looks over to me as we're sprinting. He says, "Im surprised they weren't smart enough to tie us to the chairs." And laughs. I laugh and say, "Shut up don't jinx it." The sun is slowly rising. It's about 5:00am. We make it to the fence in our yard. We both jump it and run into the house. I lock the door behind us and slide down it. Ross sits down next to me and breaths fast. I hold my head and start to see black.

Who expected that to happen? Of course Maya and Ross will be okay. I can't kill them off. What do you think will happen to Harvey and Justin?
