Ninety Two

Maya's POV:

Riley and I just got back from walking around Central Park with Auggie and Ava a little while ago. It was actually really fun and nice to hang around with them now that they're older and don't want to go to the playground every 5 minutes. We learned that the hard way.
Now we're getting ready for the party. We decided we're not gonna dress that nicely because everyone will be drunk and won't even notice what we wear anyway. But I have to look a little presentable in case we pass by paparazzi.
I decided on a black cropped sweater and some skinny jeans and boots. Riley's wearing a flowy top and some skinny jeans and black heels.
We both applied just a little mascara and we're done.
We walk down into the living room and watch some TV while waiting for Josh.
Then around 9, Josh knocks at the door. Riley opens it and he says happily, "Ready?" We say, "Yep." And follow him out the door.
I walk outside and see fans running down the street towards me. I grin big and say to Josh and Riley, "Ready to run?" They say scared, "WHAT?!" I say, "GO!" And start sprinting down the sidewalk towards Josh's car. He had to park 3 blocks down with all the traffic. I look back and see the crowd growing. I say to myself, "Jesus. I'm not THIS famous am I?" I run past some old lady who asks me, "What are they running for?" I yell back, "Sadly, it's me!" Finally, I make it to Josh's car. I jump over the front hood and wait for him to unlock it.
After he does, we all rush inside and drive away quickly. I say, "THAT. WAS. AWESOME." Riley says breathing heavily, out of breath, "Yeah for you!" I say, "You kept up well." Josh says, "That WAS actually pretty cool. That many people running to you. Pretty crazy. And might I add, you're damn fast " I say wiping fake dust off my shoulders, "What can I say." Riley says, "I hope you don't mind but I saw a bunch of paparazzi taking pictures of you." I shrug and say, "Nah it's okay. And even if I did mind, I can't do anything about it." She says, "True. That's gotta suck though doesn't it." I say, "Depends."
After continuing our pointless conversation, we arrive at the house.
We walk inside and the smell of alcohol and sweat smacks us in the face. By now we've all gotten used to that burning smell, though. We walk to the kitchen and I pour us 3 waters in a cup. Riley says concerned, "I thought were not drinking.." I say with a smirk, "We're not. It's water. This way people won't offer us." Riley says, "Ah. I like the way you think." I smile and hand them their cups.
As we're talking with some of Josh's friends we met at the last party, I recognize a far too familiar face come in........
Justin.
I turn around so he can't see me and I grab a bottle of vodka and before I start to pour it in my cup Riley grabs my wrist and says, "What are you doing?!" I say, "Whatever happens I don't want to remember it." She grabs the bottle and puts it back and says, "Maya. You can't just run away from your problems. We're gonna face him and talk to him eventually." I sigh and watch Josh get swept away with the crowd. Welp. He's gone for the night.

As the night goes on, Riley confronts Justin. He slowly comes over to me and I stand there stiff. He says softly, "Hi Maya." I say, "Hi." He grabs my hands and says, "Listen. I don't want you to be scared of me anymore. I'm not really like that and I'm so sorry for the harm and everything I've caused you. Please forgive me." I take a minute to think and say, "Okay. I forgive you." He pulls me into a hug and says, "Phew. Thank you so much. I'm just so sorry. I still will never forgive myself." I look into his eyes and see a different mood than I saw in his eyes with Ross. This was a truly sympathetic and appreciative mood. It was so relieving. I hug him back and joke, "You're lucky because I can hold grudges forever." He says laughing, "Yeah I realized that." Riley comes back to us and says, "And I'm right again." I say jokingly, "Oh hush, you."
Eventually Josh finds his way back to us and we enjoy the rest of the night talking to Josh's new and old friends. I also slowly became friends with Justin again. He told me he quit drinking entirely ever since what he did. I appreciate that a lot and makes me feel safe around him as a friend again.

By 4, everyone started heading home and we did the same. Riley invited Josh to stay the night since he was gonna be here tomorrow anyway. Walking to and from the car we passed paparazzi, but no fans. I covered my face from their angle and walked up the steps into the apartment. Riley unlocks the door and says, "Well tonight was fun." I say plopping onto the couch, "Yeah it was. I'm glad how everything turned out." Josh says putting his arm around me, "Awe. Me too babe. I'm glad you and Justin are okay now." I say, "Me too." Riley says, "Okay well I'm gonna go to bed because we're gonna have to be up in 5 hours before company starts to come." I say, "Oh true. Me too. Goodnight Josh." He kisses me goodnight and I follow Riley back to her room. We do our nightly routines and shortly after pass out.

Yay Maya and Justin are friends again :) and they had a decent time at the party. Tomorrow is the Christmas Eve chapter, then the Christmas chapter, then I start to wrap up the book :( who liked the story? Give me ideas for a sequel
