Twenty Three

Maya's POV:

After talking about pointless things for an hour Josh leaves to go back home. Riley comes into the living room and asks, "Hey how'd it go?" I smile at her and say, "I never brought up love.. BUT he said he wanted to give us a try!" My best friend squeals with me. Okay I need to stop doing that. It's so unlike me. I ask Riley, "After I walked out, did anything new happen with you and Lucas?" She tells me eagerly, "Well... Let's say that I belong to Lucas Friar now." I hug her and say, "That's great Riley! We both got what we wanted from middle school, and now that our dreams came true, it's kinda weird being able to say it." Riley agrees. I hear my stomach rumble and ask, "How about we all go out to dinner? I'm starving. The only thing I ate today was soup." Riley says, "That sounds like a good idea I'm super hungry too. How about we get some Chinese?" Chinese food is my favorite. I agree happily and after we get Lucas, Farkle, Auggie, Mr and Mrs. Matthews we head out. We pack in the car and head to Lou's Garden. (this is an actual Chinese restaurant by my house lol) We all order our food and sit down. "So Riley, where were you last night? When I went to bed, you and Maya both weren't anywhere in the apartment." Mrs. Matthews asks Riley sternly. Before Riley can even make up a stupid not believable lie, I lie, "Riley and I went to Josh's house, because he invited us over to watch a movie and we ended up falling asleep there by accident and came home around 2:30ish." That's one of my best talents. Lying on the spot. I'm proud of it. Mr. Matthews raises his eyebrows and asks Riley, "Oh my sweet, sweet, innocent daughter. Is this true Riley?" I look over at Riley who looks like she just witnessed a murder. I kick her leg quietly but hard underneath the table and give her a death stare. Please don't blow this. I think to myself. Riley blurts out, "Yes daddy! As unbelievable as it seems, since it was coming from Maya, it's true! We watched a scary movie and I was too afraid to walk home in the dark so I made it seem like I fell sleep so we would have to stay." Phew. Thank God. I thought. I stare up at the ceiling and look back down at Mr. And Mrs. Matthews and nod my head in agreement to Riley's lie. I've taught her well. I think to myself. Mrs Matthews says, "Well okay girls but next time just give me a text or a call. I need to know where you are." We both nod our heads to Riley's mom as were served our food.
We dig in and Riley and I are the first to finish. We slouch back in our chairs. "I'm bloated. I ate way too fast." Riley says as she hiccups. Farkle looks over at us and says, "Woah how'd you eat that so fast?" I laugh at Riley and say, "Me too Riles. I'm ready for bed." Everyone laughs and I check my phone:

It's sad to say we have to leave our family again to go back across the country in less than 7 days. I'll miss everyone and NY. I've been thinking that we should fly them out to LA every few months so we can keep seeing each other. I have the money because of my album. I never told Riley or anyone that I decided to sell my album out in stores. It's only been 2 days and they said we've gotten over 1 million downloads virtually already! Maybe this is it. This is who I'm gonna be now. I'm surprised they didn't hear about it yet. I hope I did the best thing by this.

Corey and Topanga almost found out about the party! That was a close one. Maya is selling her album?! WHAAAAT!
