Sixty Five

Maya's POV:

"Goodnight Maya. Thanks for being with me tonight." I smile into the sheet and say, "Goodnight. I had an awesome time. So thanks for an awesome night." I turn the brightness down on my phone and check the time:
2:44am

Thank goodness no one texted me. I put my phone on the bedside table and close my eyes and fall asleep within minutes.

5:10am

"Wakey wakey! Let's head out of here in 20 minutes." I groan and flip over and keep my eyes closed. He lightly and barely even slaps my cheek and says, "Come on!" I'm gonna ignore the fact that he irritated my bruise/cut but whatever. I sit up and rub my eyes and say groggily, "We slept like 3 hours." He says sarcastically, "I thought you do this all the time and you're good at it and used to it?" I roll my eyes and say, "Well I'm out of my game. It's been months." He says, "Well the earlier we get home the more time we have to sleep." I say, "I probably won't even be tired anymore, but sure lets go." He walks out of the room to get changed. I go to the bathroom and throw my hair up in a messy bun and take a mint and gum for fresh breath. I change into my finally dry clothes. I grab my phone and walk out to Lucas. He grabs the room keys and I follow him to the elevator. He checks us out and we start back for the car. He asks, "Do you want to get something to eat or wanna wait for everyone else." I shrug and say, "If you want to eat now sure, but I can definitely wait for Riley and Farkle and Zay and all them." He nods and says, "Me too. I just wanted to ask."
I say, "So. Now that you're a little rebellious, how did it feel?" He jumps up and down and yells, "I FEEL ALIVEEEEE!" I laugh and say, "Hush up. But really." He says, "No really. I feel great about it! It puts a little adrenaline and fear that you're gonna get caught. It's a rush. I feel like a secret agent spy sneaking around. I'd definitely do it again." I say, "That's good secret agent cowboy. I hope we can do this again." He nods his head quickly and says, "Definitely!"
Finally, we get to his truck. I climb in and buckle myself before Lucas can say anything about it. It's still pitch black out and I still feel like I can just pass out, which I did not even half way into the ride.
Lucas shakes me awake and says, "We're here." I open my eyes and yawn and grab my phone and say, "See you later! I'll text you when we're ready. You do the same." He nods and I get out of the truck and climb up the fire escape. I peep in the bay window and see Riley still asleep in bed. Phew. I quietly open the window and climb in. I keep my eyes on her as I shut it. Sweet I'm safe. I'm in. I change into my pajamas and carefully get in bed. Ah it feels so good. I fall asleep in what feels like an instant.

10:34am

Riley's POV:

I woke up refreshed and Maya was still peacefully sleeping next to me. I smelt weirdly like pool and chlorine. I check my phone:
10:43am
2 new messages: (Lucas) (Dad)

Lucas: Goodmorning sleeping beauty. Let's all go to Topanga's later, yeah?
Dad: time to wake up. mom made pancakes

I text them back:

Riley: goodmorning😊 and yeah sounds good! Maya's still asleep though so I'll get her up in a bit
Lucas: that's okay let her sleep. We gotta wait for Farkle and Zay and Josh anyway
Riley: okay

Riley: no mayas still asleep
Dad: I'll change that

Just as he texted that, my bedroom door swings open and my dad yells, "BELGIUM 1831!" Maya flinches awake and covers herself with a pillow and yells into it, "NO NO NOOOOO!" He runs over to us and pulls the sheets down and picks us both up and runs back to the dining table and sits us down. Auggie and my mom start hysterically laughing. Maya has the most confused and unamused look on her face and it makes me laugh. My dad says enthusiastically, "Pancakes!" Maya puts her head in her arms on the table and groans, "I never wake you up!" I laugh and suddenly the front door swings open and Josh stands in the doorway yelling, "FAMILY!" My parents laugh even harder when Maya yells, "WHY?!" I giggle and say, "Come on in Josh." She picks her head up and glares at me. He says, "Oh wow, look the princess is awake!" He attacks her neck and face with kisses and I cover Auggie's eyes. Auggie pulls my hand away and says, "It's okay Riley. I do that to Ava!" My mom stops laughing immediately and says, "WHAT!?" Maya laughs at that and Josh says, "Oh really you'll break for that but not me?" She looks over her shoulder and glares at him. He says, "More like sleeping Demon." She smiles and then looks at me. I smile and say giggling, "What now?" She closes her eyes as if she was sleeping and Josh picks her up and lightly throws her on the couch and says, "Now that problem's solved." She puts her thumb up in the air and yells into the pillow in relief, "THANK YOU!" I laugh and say in defense, "Hey she's not a problem." He jokes, "You're just saying that. You know she is." Maya answers for me, "No she's not." He yells back laughing, "HEY YOU SHOULD BE SLEEPING!" She says back loudly, "OH RIGHT. THANKS."
My dad laughs and says, "Imagine what it would be like around here without you two being together." Honesty. I can't. That's not a life I want to live. I say, "I can't. Maya makes everything better." My mom says offended, "Hey we're a fun family!" I say, "Yeah because Maya's here." She says, "Yeah you're right. She's something." I say hinting to Josh, "Yeah she is. And that something is NOT a problem." He says, "Wanna know what that something is?" I say, "What's that?" He runs over to Maya and says sweetly, "Mine." That made my heart melt. That was the cutest thing ever. My parents say in unison, "Awweeeee!" Josh puts his ear to her face and whispers, "She's asleep." Her blonde curls across her fair face fit perfectly. He lifts her up bridal style and sits back down at the dining table nuzzling her head into his chest. Auggie says, "Awe she's so cute." Josh smirks down at her and agrees with Auggie. My mom says, "Now we're all here. This is just what we've wanted all this time." And frowns down. I look down and my feet and say, "I'm sorry. We should've visited more. I didn't know to think what it was like without us." My dad says, "It's okay because now we are all here and it couldn't be better." Just as he says that Lucas comes into the front door and my dad stands up and yells, "GET OOOOOUUUUUTT!" Which makes Maya flinch awake and Josh comforts her. Lucas comes over to me and pecks my lips and says, "Hey." I kiss him back and say, "Hiya love." He picks me up and sits down on the chair and puts me on his lap. We both smile at my dad and he says distraught, "NO NO NOOOO!" Maya laughs at him and says, "Hmmmm. Sound familiar? Belgium isn't so important now is it?" He looks at her and says, "Oh shut up."
Just as that Katy and Shawn come into the room and I say, "So Maya. My dad was saying how weird it would be without you. And he's right." She says, "Aweee Matthews you love meeee." He says, "Yeah Maya I do. You're the second daughter I never had." Shawn cuts in and says, "AH- HEM!" Maya jokes, "Oh yeah and you." He laughs and sits down with Katy at the table. I say, "And then we were saying how it was around here when we all were in LA." The look in her eyes goes from happy to sad. She says, "Oh. I- uh. We should've visited more than just once. Sorry. I didn't realize." My mom cuts in and says, "Are you kidding? You guys were living the dream out there! Plus you were making music! Really it's fine." Josh pulls out his phone and plays Darlin I'm A Mess. Maya makes an excuse and says, "Oh boy am I tired! Yawn! I'm gonna go to bed now BYE." And tries to squirm out of Josh's grip. Josh says, "Instead of talking about what we did when you weren't here, lets talk about what came from it. I think the wait was worth it for this." Everyone agrees and Maya blushes and says, "Well I only did this for one reason. And that's Riley." I smile and say, "I love you peaches." She smiles and says, "And I love you too pumpkin." Shawn says, "Gee Cory. I think they're cuter than us." My dad sighs and says, "I hate to admit it. But I think you guys beat us. You're the better best friends." Maya and I hug and say, "Yaaaaay." I say, "Wait uncle Shawn I thought you had a job?" He says, "Oh I did. I left around 6, don't you remember?" I say confused, "No? I didn't know that." He says, "Well when I was leaving I heard one of you two coming in or out of your room. I didn't question it so I just figured you were just waking up." I look over at Maya who's face is beat red staring at Lucas. I say concerned, "Maya. Why were you up that early? Oh no, did I kick you out of the bed again?" She says quickly and nervously, "Uh- yeah. Yeah! you did. Ow." I notice her hand and fingers shaking. I say, "You're lying. I can tell because you're shaking and that look in your eyes." She says, "No I'm not. I was there all night. Didn't move until you kicked me. No one was no where doing nothing with nobody." I can't tell if she's nervous because I'm accusing her of nothing or because she did do something. Whatever, I'm not gonna argue about this now. I let it go and say, "Okay. Whether you're lying or not, fine. We're gonna talk later." She nods her head and looks down.
It stays silent for a few minutes until Katy breaks it, "So are you kids ready for school Monday?" Maya blurts out, "Lucas I can't do this." He says, "What do you mean?" She says loudly with her voice cracking, "I can't keep anything else from her anymore! It hurts me too much." Josh taps her bruise on her face and asks, "More than this?" She pushes his hand off and looks at me. She says, "Bay Window. Bay Window right now." Keeping anything else from me? I knew she wasn't always being completely honest.

They got home safe.. That's what we thought. Now Maya has to tell Riley that she kissed Ross before they left, and Lucas last night. What will happen? Will she tell josh too? Read to find out ;)
