Twenty Eight

Riley's POV:

It's been 2 hours and one nurse came in to let us know it's going great a half hour ago. I'm so relieved, but still mad at myself for leaving her there. If I never left she wouldn't have come after me to find me. I ask Farkle how he found us. He says, "Well Maya told us that she was gonna go look for you and we secretly followed her out and hid behind the building once we heard her screaming to the man. We knew if we interrupted one of you two would've gotten shot." I say to him, "I just wish it was me. She didn't deserve to have that happen to her." My mom looks at me and says, "Don't say that Riley. No one deserved it. Maya just did a very brave and loving thing for you. You're lucky to have her. Next time, don't take advantage of what you have and just walk out on her or anyone of us here. We all love you and care about you Riley. No matter how mad you are, you have to just talk it out." I nod at my moms advice. She's right. She was always right. I reach in my back pocket and pull out Maya's phone I grabbed when it dropped out of her pocket. I knew this was snooping, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind. I scrolled through her messages with Josh:
Josh: hey how'd the call go
Maya: great! I'm going to fly out when we get back. I'm supposed to leave for a tour in a few months or maybe sooner
Josh: I'm gonna miss you
Maya: it'll only be a 2 month tour. and plus I'll probably see you along the way ;)
Josh: did you tell Riley yet?
Maya: no I'm going to now. I can't wait to see her reaction! I'll text you later xx
Josh: okay
(Later)
Maya: we got into an argument and she walked away from me
Josh: where? Go get her.
Maya: I don't know down the street. I'm assuming she knows where she's going.
Josh: you know Riley she gets distracted easily. She might make a wrong turn or something. So go follow her. I would if I could, but I'm at work right now.
Maya: I just left the apartment I'm gonna go find her
Josh: good
Oh shit my boss is coming gtg text you later love

Next I scroll through our messages together:
Riley: Maya
Riley: Maya
Maya: you're right next to me. Talk.
Riley: no this is important I don't want Farkle and Lucas hearing.
Maya: what?
Riley: are you ready?
Maya: can you just tell me already before I slap you
Riley: no don't
Maya: Im kidding I wouldn't actually do that. I wouldnt have the heart
Riley: don't you mean: you don't have the "hart"
Maya: hahahahaha, no
Riley: okay can I tell you now
Maya: please do
Riley: Maya.. I...
Maya: you have 5 seconds
Riley: I want you to know that you're my best friend
Maya: awe pumpkin you're my best friend too. NOW SPIT IT OUT
Riley: that was it. You're my best friend.
Maya: are you kidding me

I chuckle to myself as I read the messages. Lucas looks over my shoulder at the phone and asks, "What's so funny?" I say, "Oh nothing, I'm just snooping through Maya's phone at our old messages." He gives me a side smile and kisses my check softly, which gives me butterflies.
Finally, the doctor comes out and tells us, "The surgery was a success, as planned, and Ms. Hart is in the recovery room and is open to visitors." We all rush up and follow him to the room. I walk through the door and see her laying down in the bed and first thing she does is give me a big smile. I grin back at her and wrap my arms around her neck and feel tears streaming down my hot face on her neck and say, "I was so worried for you I'm so glad you're okay I love you so much. I'll never forgive myself again." Maya stays in our hug and says into my shoulder, "Don't blame yourself for something I wanted to do. I would never let you get hurt. You're too fragile." I say back to her, "And I never want you to get hurt either! It all happened so fast and then I saw you there in front of me on the ground. I was so scared Maya." My last sentence started to get shaky as I started to cry even harder. She comforts me and says, "Shh no more crying. Everything's okay now. You don't have to be scared." We stayed in our hug for the next 3 minutes just enjoying each other's comfort and company.
Then the doctor comes in and we quickly pull away as he says, "Maya is all good to go home by tomorrow afternoon. We just want to check her pulse every now and then and make sure that she recovers and heals correctly." We all nod and Katy says, "Yes. thank you doctor." I look over at her and say, "Sorry I've been hogging your daughter." We both laugh as I step away and Katy goes to hug Maya. I never want to see her in a hospital bed again. It's too depressing knowing she's in pain.
By 9:00 my family heads home and my dad asks me in a concerned tone, "Are you gonna be okay here by yourself tonight?" I nod my head and say, "Of course. I'll be fine. Besides I'm not by myself, I have Maya." They walk out as they wave to us. Katy and Shawn and Farkle and Lucas stay with us another hour before they have to leave. Katy says, "I'm sorry that I can't stay the night with you babygirl.
I have an early shift tomorrow and Shawn's leaving for the next few days." Maya says, "I'm okay, really. Bye mom. Bye Shawn." We wave goodbye and they wave back.
For the next 4 hours Maya, Farkle, Lucas and I talked and talked until we all fell asleep on each other.

Phew. So Maya is okay. I couldn't go through with anything bad for her with her tour and everything. I decided I'm probably gonna make this go till 50 chapters so leave me suggestions in the comments! Thanks guys for reading :)
