Eighty Eight

Lucas' POV:

Riley, Farkle, Maya, and I decided to do our Christmas gift exchange today. Actually it's really just the girls' turn today. Farkle and I already exchanged last night after we left. I got her flowers and a diamond bracelet she's been eyeing, I also got Maya a new Fender guitar. Farkle got Riley a pearl necklace and Maya a diamond necklace. We've been saving up for these gifts and I know they're gonna love them. I'm so excited.
I woke up at 7 and got in the shower right away. I knew the stores and the city would be more packed than usual so I wanted to head out early as I can.
I text Farkle to meet me at the florist  right by Topanga's. As I'm quickly walking down the street, it starts to snow. "Oh jeez." I say under my breath. I start to jog the rest of the way. When I get there I pick out Riley's favorite assortment of flowers. Thankfully the line wasn't that long. After I pay Farkle comes in and says, "Hey man. Ready?" I nod and follow him out the door.
After pushing through crowds of people, we arrive. I buzz in and say, "Lucas and Farkle." Topanga lets us in and says, "Hey boys. I think the girls are still in bed, but you're welcome to go in." I nod and we say, "Thank you Mrs. Matthews." I quietly open the door to Riley's room and see Maya asleep on her laptop and Riley asleep curled up in a ball. I whisper, "Riley?" She stirs around and her eyes slowly flutter open. I smile at her and hold the flowers to my chest saying, "Merry Christmas, eve, eve, eve I think." She turns over and elbows Maya awake. She opens her eyes and says groggily, "Oh man I fell asleep while writing." Riley asks, "What were you writing?" Maya says happily, "Our song and another one. I've been up all night so I must've just fell asleep not long ago." Riley says, "Can I hear it?" She nods and picks up her guitar behind her and I say with a smirk, "Wait Maya. Why play it on that thing when you can use your Fender guitar?" Maya pouts and says, "I wish I had a fender. Shawn got me this unknown brand 6 years ago, but I'm obviously grateful for it." I pull out the guitar case with a ribbon on it from behind me and say with a wink, "Oh then what's this?" Maya's eyes open wide and she grins really wide. She says excitedly, "What!? No way!" I hand it to her and say with a smile, "Merry Christmas." She looks at the guitar with huge eyes and looks back at me and squeezes me with all the strength she has. I hold her back tightly and she says, "Thank you thank you thank you thank you!" I say laughing, "You're very welcome." She lets go and admires the guitar. Riley looks at me trying not to explode with excitement. I hand her the flowers with the bracelet box and say, "Merry Christmas beautiful." She squeals when she sees the box. She opens it quickly and gasps and says, "Lucas! I can't believe you got it! Thank you baby this is the best Christmas ever!" She hugs me tight and kisses my lips repeatedly. I kiss her back and say, "I'm glad you like it." Farkle says, "Hey Farkle wants some lovin too!" And holds out his gifts. Maya and Riley grab them out of his hands and gasp simultaneously and say, "Oh. My. FARKLE! Thank you!" And both hug him. He hugs them back and says, "You're welcome girls." Maya says, "Before I play the hell out of this guitar, here are your presents." Farkle and I sit on the floor in front of their bed. Maya swings off and crawls under pulling out two presents. Riley hangs off the edge and pulls out two presents as well. She says, "Okay Lucas first since he went first." The girls hand me their boxes. I opened Maya's first and ripped off the wrapping paper. I lift up the box's lid and see a pro sized nfl football. My eyes become the size of saucers when I see it was signed by every single Giants player. Inactive and active. I look up at her with my jaw dropped and say, "HOW?!" She says, "I know a guy who knows a guy who knows Tom Coughlin and welllll, we got this!" I hug her and say, "Thank you so much Maya!" Riley says, "Jeez I don't know if mine can even compare to that." I say, "I know I'll love it." I tear off the wrapping paper and see a Hollister label on the box. I say, "Already a perfect gift, you know I love Hollister." I open the box and see a bunch of different things I've been wanting. I pull out a new leather wallet, a really nice hooded sweater pull over, a warm coat, and a pair of boots. I say happily, "I've been wanting all of this stuff! How'd you know?" She says, "I know a guy who knows a guy who knows Lucas friar and welllllll, we got this!" We all laugh and I hug her and kiss her and say, "Thank you babe I love them!" She smiles and says, "Farkles turn! Farkles turn!" Maya says, "I'm most excited about this one." and hands him her present. He smiles and rips off the paper and through the box. He immediately smiles and holds up an orange turtleneck. He says, "Oh my gosh Maya. You remembered?!" She says, "Of course. This is just like your favorite turtleneck in middle school. You wore it the day you felt like nothing, but we wouldn't let you be. I'm glad you listened to us." He says, "Yeah. Damn. I seriously like this too. It has great meaning and I think I'm gonna bring turtlenecks back." We laugh and he says, "Thank you so much Maya. Jeez you got me feeling emotional, I have a huge lump in my throat." She laughs and wipes away a tear and says, "You're welcome." Riley sniffles and says, "Okay well I'm definitely not beating that, but here you go." Farkle says, "Lies." He opens the box and pulls out a Hollister sweatshirt that would look really good on him and a certificate. He says, "Oo wow I really like this sweatshirt. Thank you so much! Oh wait what's this? This certificate here by authenticates Mr Farkle Minus as officially most likely to be Farkle announced by the World National Sciences Co." He laughs and says, "No way this is so cool. It's actually real! There's a stamp on it!" Riley giggles and says, "I remembered you were always nominated most likely to be Farkle in middle school. That was the day you changed your whole look and style." He says, "Oh yeahh. How do you guys remember these things?" They look at each other and do their sassy 'Stop it' hair flip/handshake thing they always did. I say, "Woah you even remembered that too!" Maya says laughing, "Honesty I don't know why we even stopped doing that." Riley says, "Okay I'm sorry to ruin this moment but I NEED TO HEAR THE SONG PLEASE PLAY IT!" Maya says, "Okay okay. This one is Silver Nights
She starts strumming her new guitar and sings a catchy, fun, and great song.
She had amazing high notes and perfect drastic note changes. I love how diverse her voice is from everyone else's. You could pick it out in a crowd of 1000. And this is in the best way.
When she finishes we all clap and say, "Maya you sound so good! How'd you write that in one night?" She says, "Well first I wrote Take On The World and started another one called Christmas The Whole Year Round." I say, "Jeez Maya you had real creative juices running through you last night. I love the song." Riley and Farkle agree and Maya says blushing slightly, "Thank you guys. You all mean a lot to me and inspire me to keep doing what I love. You all helped me to write all of my songs actually." Riley fans her eyes and says, "I'm not gonna cry I'm not gonna cry I'm not gonna cry." Maya giggles and says, "And Riles I figured out your parts for Take On The World. So do you wanna just try it now?" She gets red and stutters, "I- I dunno. I told you I- I can't sing!" Maya says, "Shut up yes you can. I heard you sing before. You sound really good. Honest. I wouldn't lie to you." She breathes in and out deeply and mouths Okay. Maya turns the laptop with the lyrics to her and starts to strum. She says, "Just sing when I cue you in. You start off."
Riley nods and waits for Maya to cue her to start. When she does I finally for the first time hear Riley's adorable and  soft voice:
I've been waiting
For a
Day like this to come
Struck like lightening
My hearts
Beating like a drum
On the edge of something wonderful

Then Maya takes over and then they both sing the chorus together.
After the chorus Riley takes over again:

Puzzle pieces
Throw them
Up into the air
Taking chances
Moments
Happen everywhere

Then Maya sings a beautiful high note and they both sing the chorus again together.
Then again Riley takes over with a slight guitar strum in the back:

I feel alright I'm gonna take on the world
Light up the stars I've got some pages to turn

Then Maya again shocks me with another amazing high and long note. She nailed it.
They continue with the chorus and Maya sings an amazing background echo in some parts.
When the song ends Riley looks up and smiles at Maya and says, "Wow. Maya you sounded so good. Those high notes, those note changes. This song is perfect!" Maya says, "You too, you! I'm proud of you." I say, "Seriously Riley you really can sing well. I'm so proud of you both with this song and Silver Nights. I can't wait to listen to them over and over when they release." Farkle agrees and says still in awe, "I'm even more in love with you girls now." We laugh and enjoy the rest of whole day with each other.
