Seventy One

Riley's POV

Skip ahead 3 weeks

Today is the first of November! Yesterday was Halloween, obviously, and we just stayed home and gave out candy to the trick or treaters. Then, of course, everyone wanted to watch a horror movie... My favorite... We watched Insidious 3 and let me tell you: I didn't sleep at all. It's 2:30am and I still haven't shut my eyes once. Good thing it's a Saturday.
But generally, time flies. Soon it'll be Christmas time! Yay I'm so excited.

I'm too scared to be in my room right now. It's dark, I'm alone, and it's silent. Nope not doing this. I got mad at Maya last night for making me watch that stupid movie so I made her sleep on the couch. And now I regret that decision. I get out of bed and run out to the living room. I find Maya asleep peacefully on the couch. This won't be a peaceful awakening. I jump on top of her and scream. She screams awake and I start to laugh. She yells, "What the fuck Riley?" I say laughing, "Scared now?" She says angrily, "Well yeah! Fuck off." I hear a distant voice yell from the bedrooms, "Watch your language!" Maya flips off the voice in that direction and glares at me and says, "Why did you do that? Why aren't you asleep?!" I smirk and say, "Because of your stupid ass movie! I'm too scared." Maya gives me a deceiving smile and then out of no where pulls me down to the ground. I say giving in,  "You can come back to my room now." She looks down at me and shrugs and says, "Nah. You should probably get to bed now. But watch out.. Don't let them get you." Her voice got dark and scary for the last sentence. Then she stretches out across the couch. I shoot up and say nervously, "Actually you know what? Hah I'm just gonna stay here. Yeah that's a good idea. Night night!" And I lay next to Maya. She sits up and says, "No no no. Go to BED. Actually a BED." I say, "No I'm good here." She says making fun, "What are you.. Scaaaaareedd?" I say back simply, "Yeah. I thought that was loud and clear." She looks around the room and says, "Oh. Okay well nope you gotta go to bed." I say, "Nope." She says, "Yope." I say, "Yope what eve-" she cuts me off by pushing me off the couch and sprawls out across the whole thing. I get up and say in a small scared voice, "Maya please. I'm too scared to be alone." She keeps her eyes closed and doesn't answer. I say back, "I know you're not actually sleeping." She says, "Yes I am." I smirk and say, "Okay. Then if you're sleeping, you won't mind me doing this!" And I lay across her and stretch out. She groans but doesn't say anything. I laugh to myself. I won.

I flinch awake from a nightmare. Some guy seemed to be everywhere I was. But he was just a black shadow and every time I looked at him he screamed with red glowing eyes and blood started dripping from them. It scared me awake when he grabbed me instead of just screaming at me. A hand from below me rubs my arm comforting me. At first I was scared because I forgot it was Maya. I fell asleep literally on her. I roll over on my stomach and smile at her. She smiles and says, "Nightmare?" I nod and say, "Have you been awake?" She nods and says, "Yep." I say, "Then why didn't you get up?" She says, "Because I didn't know how!" I laugh and say, "Thanks for being my bed." She says, "Anything to get you to sleep." I ask, "What time is it?" She says, "No idea." I peep my head over the couch and see everyone at the table. I get down and gasp. She says concerned, "Oh no we overslept again didn't we? Is it like 3?" I joke, "No. Even worse. There's people!" We both gasp really loudly. I snuggle myself up to her back and say into her shoulder, "Don't go. It's too dangerous." She says, "I got this. HEY WE COME IN PIECE! DON'T HURT US AND WE WONT HURT YOU!" We both laugh and someone yells from the table, "Hey weirdos? Come eat. Now." It was my mom. Maya smirks at me and says sassily, "What if we don't wanna?" Everyone gasps and I whisper loudly, "Maya you're asking for it." My mom says, "Do you think I 'wanna'ed have to wake up early just to make you all breakfast? No. So come here now. Because I ain't asking you, I'm telling you." Maya says, "Well damn." And we all laugh. She gets up and I follow her. As we sit down Maya says, "You know your hair was in my face all night. Every time you flinched more and more just fell on me." Lucas asks, "Why was your hair even on her? Weren't you in bed? Wait what happened I'm beyond confused." Maya says, "Well wittle baby Wiley over here was too scared to sweep awone! So she decided it'd be a good idea to scare the shit out of me awake and then lay on top of me to fall asleep." My mom says, "That was pre-karma for sassing me today. Because NO ONE ever even had the guts to. Except you..... That's why we keep you around here." Maya laughs and Cory says, "So wait. That WAS you cursing last night." Maya slowly looks up from her plate and stares at my dad. They both shoot up and Maya yells running, "I WONT ANYMORE!" He chases her all around the apartment. I laugh and say, "She still acts like a child." Everyone looks at me and says simultaneously, "Really." I hold my hand to my heart jokingly offended and gasp. I fall backwards over the chair and Farkle says, "Yeah. MAYA'S the child." My mom says, "You guys are still too young to not be acting like children. Stay this way forever." I smirk to myself and get back up on the chair. I sing loudly, "CAUSE IF IM TOO YOUNG. TO FALL IN LOVE. THEN WHY DO YOU KEEP RUNNIN' THROUGH MY BRAIN? IF IM TOO YOUNG. TO KNOW ANYTHING. THEN WHY DO I KNOW THAT IM JUST NOT THE SAME. DON'T TELL ME I WONT. DON'T TELL ME I CANT FEEL. WHAT IM FEELING IS REAAAAL! CAUSE IM NOT TOO YOOOOUUUNNGG!" Maya stops running and says, "No no. None of that." Then my dad tackles her onto the couch. She says, "You all good now buddy?" He says, "Yes. Yes I am." She gets up and sits next to me. I smile at her and say, "Can you-" she says, "No." I say, "Please si-" she says, "No." I say, "Sing us-" she says, "No." I say, "Too youn-" she says, "No." I say, "PLEASE!" She says, "What don't you get about no?" I sigh and pout. It stays silent as everyone finishes their breakfast. I break it by blurting out, "PLEASE!" She says, "RILEY!" I say, "Fine fine." My mom says, "So what are you guys gonna do today?" Maya shrugs and says, "Dunno. Probably nothing like always." I say, "Josh might come over so we might actually do something." Maya just looks at me and looks away. I realize that she hasn't seen Josh since she saw Justin a few weeks ago. I hope nothing happened between them that I don't know about. She says, "I haven't seen him in like 3 weeks." Lucas says, "Don't you miss seeing him and being with him?" She says sarcastically, "Yeah I'm a mess without his love." I grin big and her smile falls and says, "Oh no. I didn't mean to do that." I open my mouth wide to sing Darlin' I'm A Mess but my dad says, "NO! No. It'd be better if Maya sings it but she's not so no screaming singing please and thank you." She says, "When is he gonna be here anyw-" she's cut off by the door opening. It's Josh. He says, "Maya! Where is she?" Maya ducks down and climbs under the table. I say, "I don't know I think she's still asleep." He says, "Sweet. Not for long." He runs to my room and Maya gets up and says under her breath, "Idiot." And laughs. He runs back in and says, "I KNEW
I HEARD YOU!" He lifts her up and holds her tight kissing her repeatedly on the lips. She smiles and kisses him back. We all look at them in awe. I love how happy Josh makes her. He leans his forehead on hers and whispers romantically, "I missed you." She bits his lip and whispers on his lips, "I missed you too." He holds her little face in his hands and smiles at her. She walks back to the table and he slaps her ass. She stops in her tracks and glares at him. His eyes open wide as she tackles him onto the couch. My dad looks at my mom and says, "Why can't we be cute like them?" She says, "Do that and I'll kill you." I say, "Dad you're cute like me and Lucas!" Lucas smiles and puts his arm around me. My dad threatens, "YOU WATCH YOUR HANDS BUCKO!" Maya calls from the living room, "Ha huuuuurrrrrrr!" Lucas sighs and says disappointed, "I knew she'd say that." I laugh and kiss his cheek purposely annoying my dad.
