Parang tinarakan ng isang dosenang punyal sa puso si Lorraine dahil sa sinabi ni Cloud. Naestatwa siya. Hindi siya makapag-isip ng tama. Paanong nangyaring hindi na siya nito mahal samantalang trese años pa lang ito ay iniibig na siya at kahit ilang taon pa silang hindi nagkita, nananatili ang pagmamahal nito sa kanya?

"You're lying, Cloud," hindi naniniwalang sabi niya.

Bumuntong hininga ito.
"Rain..."

Galit na humakbang siya papunta rito ngunit agad din namang siyang tumigil. Ayaw nga pala nitong lumapit siya. Hindi talaga sila magkakasundo kung patuloy nilang lalabagin ang kagustuhan ng isa't isa. Minabuti niyang magpakahinahon.

"Look, if this is one of your mother's schemes, I'm not gonna buy it. She's delusional if she thinks she can break us apart," mariin niyang sagot.

"This isn't my mother's scheme, Lorraine. This is my decision. You know I never asked anyone's opinion, my decisions are solely mine."

Napahagulhol na siya. "Why are you putting an end to this relationship, Cloud? You know very well that I love you and I'm deeply sorry for what I have done. Hindi ko kayang mawala ka sa buhay ko!"

Hindi ito sumagot.

"Cloud, this is unfair! If you want to punish me for lying to you, I will take it, but don't let me go! Don't break up with me because that would kill me!"

Hindi na naman ito sumagot. Nanghihina siya sa pananahimik ito.

"Cloud..." Humakbang siya papalapit dito.
"Cloud, if this is about Raphael, don't worry about it because I've totally forgotten my feelings for him ever since the day I learned to love you," paliwanag niya.

Narinig niyang bumuntong hininga na naman ito.

Naguluhan siya sa sinabi nito.

"We need to grow as a person. I thought we are both matured enough but I was mistaken. We still need to find ourselves. If we continue to act like everything's okay, we will end up hurting each other again and again."

Lalo siyang napahagulhol. Kapag ganoon na ang tono ni Cloud, seryoso ito at hindi na mababali ang desisyon. Ngayon na niya naramdaman ang napakalaking impact nang ginawa niya rito. He must be bleeding inside but decided to keep it in silence. And perhaps he have had enough.

"Lorraine , we need to give each other a break and a space to breathe, think, and analyze things. It doesn't mean I don't love you anymore because God knows, my dear, you're the only woman who's gonna hold my heart until my last breath. We need to reset our lives, regain our peace of minds, settle our unresolved personal conflicts, get back to where we were before this marriage interfered."

"Can we just forget about those things, Cloud? The past won't define our future, it's the present. We love each other now. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me. Can we just continue like this?"
