Desperation.

Chapter 58

It is 4pm when we arrive at Rose's house. She opens the door and asks me if I want to eat or drink something.

"What about a tea?" I suggest and Rose agrees.

We sit down in Rose's small living room and talk about the exchange to Ireland.

"Do you like your exchange student?" she questions.

"I don't know my exchange student!" I answer confusedly and Rose takes her laptop to open an email from Mrs. Smith.

From: Mrs. Smith

To: Rose Blackman

Dear Rose,

your exchange student is Alana Barkingson.

Her address is included.

"Alana Barkingson!" I laugh "that's a strange name!"

Rose chuckles and nods but then she shows me Alana's Facebook profile.

Alana looks nice and she has brown loops and blue eyes. Yesterday was her birthday and she's 17 years old.

"She's one year younger than us..." I notice and Rose nods.

"Yes, she is, but I chatted with her in the morning and she seems to be very nice. Her brother is only three years old! Isn't that cute?!" she squeaks and I imagine Rose hanging out with Alana's brother...

I know she is going to be very amused.

"Alana seems to love Johnny Depp and all his films. That's fantastic, isn't it? You can visit us and we can watch every part of pirates of the caribbean!"

"Yes!" I respond enthusiastically.

"And can I use your laptop to open my emails? I think I have one from Mrs. Smith, too!"

"Of course you can" Rose smiles and I take the laptop and open my email account.

One new email

To: Diana Collins

Dear Diana,

your exchange student is James Simpson.

His address is included.

Are they kidding me?! A boy?!

I have had enough trouble with Victor, Jason and especially Louis...

I search for his Facebook profile and Rose screams when I open it.

"Gosh! He's so hot!" she shouts and I am glad that Zayn is not here...

"Rose! You have a boyfriend!" I say and she does not stop looking at the profile picture...

Well, she is right, James is good-looking but he is just an exchange student...

I look at his 'likes' and hobbies.

"He likes football and tennis..." Rose remarks and I go on reading "His favourite football team is Manchester United... oookay... and he likes dogs and cats. Maybe I should take Nelly with me" I laugh and Rose says "Great idea! But I don't think Nelly will like that idea!"

We giggle and Rose says I should add him as a friend...

After I sent him a friend request we decide to eat something.

"Do you wanna eat noodles?" Rose asks and puts a pot on the stove.

"Yes, where are they?"

"In the cupboard next to you" Rose says and I give her the noodles.

Rose is a good cook and the noodles are very delicious.

I came in like a wreeeeeeeeckiiiiing baaaall

Oh shit! This is my mobile phone!

"Hey" - "Diana! Where are you?!" the voice on the phone interrupts me.

It is my mother.

"I'm at Rose's house!" I reply annoyed and roll my eyes.

"What are you doing?"

"We're eating"

"Is Louis with you?"

"Hell no! You said I mustn't see him again so I won't meet him again!"

"When do you come back?!"

Her stupid questions are annoying.

"I don't know"

"I want you to be back in one hour."

Why is she so solicitous?!

"Why?"

"Diana! Be back in one hour. Don't ask why!" Mum hangs up and I wonder what happened to her!? She has always been way too solicitous but not that much!

Maybe it is because of Leanne and Louis.

I mean it is because of the police officer who said that Louis could be the murderer...

"Do you know the Sandall park?" I ask Rose and she answers "Yea, I think I've been there with my grandma when I was a little kid. We always went there when my mother was nasty to granny and me. Well, to be honest, we went there every day granny was at our house. My mother was very nasty when we were alone but with granny... well she was even nastier when granny was there so my grandma and I went to the park to relax and to leave Mum alone. I don't remember much of the park and I think it changed a bit. Why do you want to know that?"

The story of Rose and her mother is terrible. They still do not like each other and Rose was very happy when she was old enough to move out of her mother's house...

"The Sandall park is the meeting point for Louis and Jason" I explain.

"Do you want to go there?"

"I don't know... On one hand I want to see him again. But on the other hand I don't wanna make this any harder... I should let him go. But I can't. You can't imagine how terrible this situation is..."

"Yes, I can, Diana. Maybe you don't believe that but I know what you mean... We shouldn't go to the Sandall park."

"Okay."

She is right. I do not believe she knows that situation. Zayn is a good boy, he never does anything bad, he is always there for her and he is not searched by the police... Furthermore Rose does not care about her mother's opinion anymore so it does not matter if her mother likes Zayn or not.

If I was like her I could meet Louis now or tomorrow or every day but I cannot do that to my Mum. It is horrible for me to let Louis go but Mum is worried. I could not move out and do everything I want to do now.

I love my mother and I know she loves me, too.

As if she could read my thoughts Rose says "Your mother is very worried about you."

"I know. I think I should go home now." I say quietly and Rose nods.

"Okay. See you tomorrow."

She hugs me and I go home.
