[Tom as Lucas Bennett and the reader as Kayla Bennett]
Kayla and her family was on the plane to Thailand for vacation. As much as she was excited for the trip she was also annoyed with Lucas. "Mom, Lucas is being annoying again." She says. Not having time to argue on the issue she tells Kayla to switch seats with her but she insisted on sitting with Lucas instead of changing seats.
She decided to read her book, The maze runner ignoring Lucas pulling on her blonde hair and kicking her.
Kayla and her family finally reached the place they were staying at. Everyone all excited to go to the pool except for Kayla who stays back to finish her book with no disturbance of Lucas.
At dinner things didn't go well either. Lucas always had something to say to Kayla and it didn't stop when Simon and Thomas had to sot in between them. Having had enough for the night she excuses herself and head to bed early.
The next morning she gets woken up by her father throwing her over his shoulder and spinning around a little. They all run outside to open up the presents. Some new books and a red ball to play with her brothers. She played piggy in the middle with Simon and Lucas.
They all decide to go to the pool. Things were going fine until it got a little windy and everything started to shake. Kayla stood frozen watching at the wave that went high as the coconut palm trees. She turned around and ran fast as she could.
"Mom! Dad! Lucas! Simon! Thomas!" She screamed out as she was being carried away by the strong currents.
Kayla wakes up as she was being carried inside a hospital. After getting her arm stitched up she walks around the hospital to find the rest of her family. She bumps into a boy but before she could turn around to see who he was, he runs the opposite direction. A nurse finds her standing in the middle of the hallway and asks her her name and to follow her. She takes her to the room to see her mom. "Mom?" She says as she runs towards her giving her a hug. "Lucas Bennett is your brother?" The nurse asks to which she nods her head. "He is also here. You can go look for him." She says as she was about to get her mother into surgery and didn't want her to be scared.
Kayla runs through all the hallways going up and down the floors until she reached to the compound. She stops to catch her breath. "Kayla!!" She hears her name being called. Simon and Thomas runs towards their sister jumping into a group hug. "Kayla!! Simon!! Thomas!!" She hears Lucas call from behind as they turn around Lucas and their father was running towards them. She runs fast towards Lucas who gives her a big hug. She tells him she loves him no matter how annoying he can be.
They all patiently wait for their mother to finish her surgery. Lucas stands next to the old hospital bed as Kayla slept on it.
Once she was out of surgery they all fly to Singapore to get better treatment for their mom. Lucas did not annoy Kayla and let her read her book or take a nap as he sat quietly feeling happy that everyone is safe.
