"I am so so excited for prom." Sophie, my bestfriend squeals as she kept going through the rack of clothes. "Calm down, Sophie." I say as I pick up a dress and examines it. "That's the one Y/n. That's the one." She says. It's a cute champagne off the shoulder short sleeve pleats high low dress. "You sure?" I ask. "Yeeah. Pretty sure." She says pushing me towards the changing room.
"You think Tom's gonna like it?" I ask her as we wait in line at the cashier. "He will love it." She says with the most fake star struck impression which I giggle.
"Hi mom." I greet my mom at the kitchen as I put down the shopping bag near the counter top. "You got the dress?" She asks. "Yup." I reply with a smile. "Oh I forgot to tell you. There's something to show you and tell." She speaks making me feel nervous.
"Um, why are we here?" I ask standing infront of a house. "We are moving here next Wednesday." My mom cheers excitedly as my dad picks up a box from the car. "So what do you think?" They ask as we walk inside. It's bigger than the place we live in now. A pretty back garden and a noce view from my room. "It's lovely." I say. "We got a lot of packing to do." My mom says. "Did you say we are moving in here next Wednesday?" I ask to clarify again. She nods her head. "I have to go to prom." I say. "Oh sweetie, I'm sorry. We'll figure something out. Okay?" She says kissing my forehead.
Prom is only 3 days away now and I have got no time for it because of the busy packings. My phone rings for the fifth time today and I ignore it, again.
"Y/n." I hear Tom's voice by my bedroom door. "Tom? What are you doing here?" I ask. "You havn't been answering any calls. I got worried." He says hugging me. "I'm fine. I was just busy packing." I say. "Your mom said that too." He says sitting at the edge of the bed. "When are you moving in to the new house?" He asks as he pack some books in the box near him. "Next Wednesday." I say with a deep breath. He stops packing the books as he stares at me. "That's prom night." He says in a loud whisper. "Um, yeah. I can just move in in the morning and be free late afternoon?" I say questioning myself with the plan.
Three days went by and my plan didn't work. "I'm sorry dear. I know how much you wanted to go to prom but things came up." My mom says giving me a small hug. She had insisted I go to prom and let them do all the work but I wasn't in a mood anymore. I look at the time reading 7Pm. Everyone will be meeting their prom dates now and I, I am here unboxing with weird clothes on. I sigh. "I know something that will cheer you up." My mom says as she walks in with the box of all my prom accessories. "Why don't you try it on. I didn't even see you in it." She says. I decided to take a break from unpacking and put on the prom outfit.
As I was almost done, lights shined bright outside my bedroom window. I walked down the stairs to the sliding doors of the garden. "Wow." Someone whispers behind me. It was Tom. He had put on a black suit and handed me a corsage. "Oh wait. Let me put that on." He says taking it out of the box. "You did all this?" I ask. "Well, I know how excited you were for prom but things got all messed up and you couldn't go so, I decided to bring prom to you. Would you like to dance?" He asks holding his hand for me to take. I smile as we walk out into the garden. Slow music playing in the background.
There were lanterns and fairy lights flickering through the night. I slowly put my head on his shoulder admiring the scent of his perfume. "Thank you, Tom." I say. "Anything for you, my love."
