You were impatiently staring at the clock ticking the last 3 minutes till the end of the midterm test time. You already took one in the morning and you were almost done with with the second one. As the time ends you set your pen on the paper as the teacher begins to collect all the papers. Although you felt relieved for a few seconds you realised that you have a video edit project due before midnight.
Exiting the building you speed walk towards your car. Not trying to waste a single second of the few hours left.
You drive through the creepy basement of the building and park your car. As you reach toward your apartment you begin to hear voices coming through. You knew your neighbour was out on vacation and would not be returning until next week. A little frightened you slowly unlock the door to find Tom and his family in the living room. "Surprise!" You hear Paddy say as he sees you standing clueless at the door. "Y/n!" Tom says running towards you. "Babe you okay?" He asks a little confused. "Yeah I'm okay. Just a tired." You say forcing up a smile. You greet his mom with a hug and leave to your room to begin with the project.
"We got plans to go for dinner. You can wear that dress you been wanting to wear." Tom says standing behind your desk. "I can't go." You say not taking your eyes from your computer screen. You were a little angry that your parents didn't even tell you about them coming. Guess they thought it would be a lovely surprise.
You went back to focus on your project but it got hard as you could hear everyone outside but eventually you managed to finish it by 11:30pm and submit it online.
You walk back into the loving room to find your parents talking to Tom's parents and your sister talking to the twins. Not really having the energy to speak, you quietly make your way to the kitchen to make yourself a cup of coffee. "Why so gloomy?" Tom asks poking your nose. "Are you serious? You brought your family over during midterm week?" You say sternly. Tom was surprised with the tone as he stares at you speechlessly. He stumbles to reply but you walk out forgetting your cup of coffee.
Sitting down at your desk you take out the books to prepare for the last two exams you had to take the next day. Your head was hurting but you needed to make sure you pass.
"You forgot your coffee." Tom says softly as he place the cup of coffee carefully on your desk. "I hate to see you like this. Don't be so hard on yourself. Grades don't define who you are and I know it's very important to you. I know you'll do great so don't stress too much. Breath and you'll be fine." He says kissing your forehead.
"I'm sorry about earlier." You say not looking at him. "It's okay. You just have a lot on your mind right now and a lot of stress. We'll have fun after you are done with the exams. Then you can relax." He says with a smile.
