Confession of Pure Hearts

"Master Wei is in danger" were the last words I could comprehend before I flew down to the Guanyin Temple. Landing quietly on the top of the roof I am surprised to see my brother's rage directed towards Wei Ying "if you haven't realised Lan Wangji's heart then Young Master Wei, the only mistake my brother ever made in his otherwise pristine life was you!". My heart falters...what?

"No that can't be it?" I watch Wei stagger "I never knew!" He yells and runs towards the exit when five monks guarding the gates attack him at once.

"Where do you think you're going Wei Wuxian?" Jin Guang Yao mocks and defeating the monks Wei retorts "Shut up, I am going to meet Hanguang-Jun".

Me?

But just as he turns I see them attacking Wei Ying again and I knew from now on whatever has to happen, he will still be my priority. Always.

Unsheathing my Bichen, the blue glare razes everyone in its path and as I land, I watch Wei's gaze soften with the warmth that he had back in the Inn.

"Lan Zhan" he takes a step towards me but his eyes widen and his fingers clutch his throat. Between his fingers the blood seeps out and that's when my gaze lands on the light coloured guqin string around Wei's neck. Holding them securely with his two hands, Jin Guang Yao grins "Didn't I tell you Young Master Wei, if you're here then Hanguang-Jun would definitely arrive" looking at me Jin Guang Yao commands "if you want him safe, step back and lock your spiritual powers".

For him I can give up my life, locking my spiritual powers meant nothing. Abiding by his rules, I lock them and Wei visibly pales.

"Lan Zhan" he coughs up "there's something I need to tell you" his eyebrows scrunch up as the guqin tightens around his neck.

No.

"Shut up" Jin Guang Yao smiles "whatever it is tell him later".

"No it has to be now" he persists and Jin Guang Yao sighs "Fine just say it right here right now" he rolls his eyes and my rage knows no bounds. Just as I am about to warn Jin Guang Yao, Wei looks at me "Lan Zhan, back then in the room when I said thank you, I actually wanted to pull you into that bedroom of ours and wanted to sleep with you!"

Sleep with me?

The confession was quite a shock to everyone present there. Brother's eyes widen and Jin Guang Yao's hold against the guqin loosens and that's when not caring for anyone present in the area, Wei pushes Jin Guang Yao away and in quick strides jumps into my arms. Taking my face in his palms he looks into my eyes and with all the love he could, he musters up the courage and confesses his heart "Lan Zhan, I love you. I want to forever be by your side. Everyday. Everynight. Every breathing moment of my life" at that my heart thunders.

He loves me?

A loud thunder resonates from the sky and brother walks up towards us "Young Master Wei probably we can discuss all this at another time? This is quite not the situation".

I look at my brother when Wei tugs my hand "Come let's seek shelter inside the temple. It's going to rain in here" he coaxes and I follow. Distributing the cushions around and there being only one for us, Wei tugs my hand and I take a seat on the lone cushion and he quickly sits on my lap.

"Lan Zhan" he whispers and I look at his beautiful lotus shaped eyes. They are earnest and imploring me to understand the seriousness of his heart "Lan Zhan, there are so many things I want to share. Let me start by saying that my memory lags in places especially the events that took place in the Nightless City. I am so sorry Lan Zhan for you had to go through so much pain and anguish and I wasn't even aware of them" he pauses as he gathers his thoughts "I love you. I love you so much. If love has no definition then, I whatever you Lan Zhan. Are you listening?"
He pleads when all I can hear are the words he just confessed.
