Test for the young

"What are we doing here?" Jingyi looks around unable to believe that their session of Dark Energy was to be held in the Burial Mountain.

"Never expected a Lan to be this scared" Jin Ling smirks and his gaze immediately finds mine. I don't bother to interfere. This is their learning process and I am here cause Wei wanted me to help the kids for any untoward.

He on the other hand is up there doing what he does best. Being the king and making the Dark Energies submit to his command.

"Hey, what do you mean?" Jingyi retorts "atleast I don't need my uncle to help unlike the young mistress we know!"

"Stop it you two!" Sizhui intervenes "Hanguang-Jun, what are we supposed to do?"

I look at them with an impassive face and answer their query "Survive" I turn around and say my final piece "you're all on your own" with that I leave them to their own device.

"Lets go" OuYang ZiZhen pulls forward and the rest join him.

The fog thickens as we proceed and I am reminded of our time from Yi City. So Wei is trying to create a familiar background for the kids. They know what they're dealing with yet it's all new for them.

"Sizhui" Jingyi whispers "do you think this is some corpse poisioning?"

"Why do you ask?" Sizhui questions trying to locate their way up.

"I really don't want to eat Senior Wei's Conjee" Jingyi grimaces and Jin Ling whacks him "I can't believe you! At such time all you can think about is his Conjee?" 

"Ouch!" Jingyi yells "well that's because you haven't tasted it!" he mumbles something illegible and I smile. Oh Wei Ying they're not  terrified of you being The Yiling Patriarch but of your food. You have traumatized the poor kids.

"Hey, you think we'll get to meet a fair maiden again?" hope could be heard in OuYang ZiZhen's voice.

"You want to meet a fair maiden in this mountain?" another disciple enquires and Sizhui answers "Well it does not sound too unappealing. Hanguang-Jun did find Senior Wei here" for that there were series of assent and I was beginning to wonder how did they land up discussing about Wei and my story when they were here to fight against Dark Energies?

But before I could ask them not deviate their attention from the main task in hand, we hear a screeching noise. The corpses were coming and the boys were forming their own coordination for attack. Drawing their respective swords they were ready as the first batch came out for onslaught. Their energies were the lowest. It was easy for the boys to overcome the corpses of such level though I could analyse a healthy competition between Jingyi and Jin Ling. They both wanted to prove their strengths whereas Sizhui and ZiZhen were supporting them.

Defeating batch one they moved further only to be stopped by second batch. They were a lot more stronger than the first batch. The boys knew this was no longer just a game and here they all fought equally.

It was in the third batch that their strengths and weakness were finally put to test. This batch were tenacious. The kids knew that  they need to strategise. We were closer to Wei's abode and here the resentment was the strongest.

Summoning their respective Guqin and Flute, Sizhui and Jingyi were in the forefront. The other disciples were acting as guards in the middle whilst Jin Ling and ZiZhen were at the back forming the last defence with their respective swords.
