The shrill of Chenqing resonated around us and Wei Ying stood in front of me as he gazed at Jin Guang Yao. The other man's laughter was as sinister as ever "We meet again Yiling Patriarch" but this time his voice was more of a screech.
"I guess we did miss an important factor when you were killed last time. It would have been better had you stayed dead Jin Guang Yao. There was not a soul on this earth who missed you except the man standing next to you" Wei smirked.
"So you do realise that you made a grave mistake?" questioned Jin Guang Yao as his pale rotten skin emitted great amount of stench.
"What is he talking about?" Jiang Cheng looked baffled "why is he alive? I thought this menace was long dead and gone!".
"Unfortunately" Wei turned his gaze towards Jiang Cheng and smiled "we left out one very vital part of our investigation and that is our mistake of not searching his body properly. Apparently he hid an part of the Stygian Tiger Seal inside his body away from the naked eye to find. The only one who had access and knowledge of the seal was Su Shing" turning back to Su Shing, Wei grinned "I must say you both played a good game against us but" he brings Chenqing to his lips "this all ends today".
"You think you and your group can defeat me Yiling Patriarch?" Jin Guang Yao laughed as he readies himself for the battle.
"I will kill you and if in that process I die so be it" Wei refuted as he played a tune where hundreds of Wei's controlled corpses enter the Nightless City.
A whistle from Su Shing and the human turned corpses start attacking us. We knew that only one side would survive and we sure hoped it was ours. Summoning Wangji, I place him in mid air for the strings to emit the sound of pain for the corpses who were attacking us. Bichen on the other hand was fast enough to drag more than 20 corpses back to hell but it wasn't enough. The more we killed, the more were being resurrected. Wei's corpses were of no match in front of Jin Guang Yao's, though they too fought valiantly.
A scream was heard and I turned to see ZiZhen was bleeding from his abdomen. Su Shing's corpse had pierced him and his blood was attracting the rest.
"Hanguang-Jun, we'll help ZiZhen" it was Sizhui who assured me and I was quick to dodge the attack from the corpse. From my peripheral, I saw Wen Ning being who he is The Ghost General fighting by Wei's side. They were a duo to be reckoned with. He was an ultimate fighter but it seemed even with The Ghost General on our side, we were becoming weaker and this was the greatest advantage for the other side.
Slowly and steadily they were defeating our fortress. Whilst protecting ZiZhen, Sizhui and Jingyi were injured. Jin Ling and Jiang Cheng were brave amidst the corpses counter attacking their every move and Wu Meiming even though she was still new to the Clan, she held her own battle well but was also injured in the process. Brother was protecting her but was bleeding from multiple injuries.
"Wei Ying" we were fighting with our backs to eachother so we could have the view of the entire arena. He was the only one growing stronger by each minute as he fed on the dark energies. Corpses after corpses were pouncing at us. My robes were soaked with blood and this was noticed by Wei Ying.
"Lan Zhan" turning towards me he draws an incantation in the air and time stops. The only one moving was him and me. Holding onto my shoulders his eyes were somber and I knew this was it. The moment where he would remind me of my promise.
"It's time Lan Zhan" his smile was deep and sad "with this rod, I shall strike and take them to the other realm" he shows me his three fingers "three minutes is all it would take. Stab my heart with that pin and I will come back to you. I promise" taking me in his arms gently he places a kiss on my lips "wait for me and remember till your heart beats, this heart would come back to seek. I love you". I cherished those warm arms around me. I promised not to let my tears flow.
