We stepped out of the courtroom, Severus next to me, now as a free man. My heart pounded in my chest. I was so happy at this moment. I mean several people died at the battle of Hogwarts and Lupin and Tonks didn't talk to me anymore, but I couldn't care less. I had done the right thing.
Severus didn't say a word. He just rushed through the ministry.
"Are you alright?" I softly asked as we stood outside on the streets of London.
He didn't respond.
"Severus?" I gently placed my hand on his arm.
"Don't, " he said stiffing up.
"Please don't put your walls up again, " I begged.
"Not here, " he hissed and grabbed my arm apperating.
When I saw clear again we stood in front of a brick house.
Severus had let go of my hand and stepped up to the house, unlocking the door. I followed him quietly. As I stepped into the hallway think, heavy air hit me. This must be the house in which Severus grew up. It was dark and cold in here.
He leads me to into his living room.
"Please tell me what's wrong," I pleaded as he stared out of the window his back turned to me.
It was silent for quite some time.
"You shouldn't have told Kinsley about Higgins child," Severus coldly said after a while.
"It was the only way to clear my point, " I argued.
"I murdered Albus it would have only been right that I get charged for my crimes, all of them, " he gave back.
"You have suffered enough! How can't you see that you deserve better? That there are things that could give you peace and change your life for the better!"
He spun around his expression cold and stepped up very close to me.
"Like what? You?" His voice was derisive.
I had to hold my tears back. Was that moment in the shrieking shack only a lie? Something he had only said out of shock? Something he had never meant that way?
I stared into his deep black eyes. Trying to keep the hurt expression out of my face. How was I never enough?
"How could I be such a naive idiot?" I choked slightly above a whisper.
Then I turned around and left the house. This was just too much for me. Once I stood on the street again I apparated back to London. Why did I actually think this could work out? I was just not her. Not the woman he loved. A tear ran down my face but I brushed it away quickly.
I hurried to the Leaky Cauldron I needed something strong now.
I pulled my hood into my face... Now that I played a huge role in the battle of Hogwarts there were actually people who knew who I was and wanted to talk to me but I was definitely not in the mood for that.
"Tom?" I called for the owner quietly standing introns of the bar.
"Oh hello, Miss what can I bring you?"
"Red wine mixed with a shot of fire whiskey, please, " I told him.
"Having a ruff day?" He asked.
"Kind of."
I pulled my hood down the dim lighting in the pub would make it less easy to spot me.
"Miss (y/l/n)?" Tom immediately exclaimed.
"Yes?"
"Why didn't you tell me it was you? This one is on me!"
"No thank you, sir. I will pay for it as every other customer does, " my voice was cold, my eyes watery yet dull.
I really loved that man...
"I would prefer me paying, " a voice came from my left. A man in his mid-twenties had taken a seat next to me.
"No, thank you I got this, " I said as Tom handed me my drink. I immediately took a huge sip trying to calm my nerves.
"What is such a beautiful lady doing hear at this time of the day?" The stranger asked.
"I don't know go find her and ask, " I gave back focusing on the glass in front of me.
"I just did silly but enough of the cheesy pickup lines. I'm Ryan and you are?" he went on. I looked up at him raising an eyebrow.
"(Y/n)" I replied shortly ordering a second glass.
"That's a beautiful name. What brings you here, (y/n)?" He kept on digging. To be honest he seemed nice.
"I was in the airier, " I lied.
"I see, " he replied in his Irish accent. Did he actually but that.
"You seem upset..." He went on again.
I shrugged.
"If there is anything I could do for you..." He placed his hands on my shoulders. Touchy are we?
"... Just tell me."
"Not a thing," I gave back pulling away.
"Well, I just came from work. Being an Auror can be very exhausting these days." Ah yes, should I be impressed now?
"What are you doing for a living?"
"Teaching, " I gave back still starting at the bar in front of me.
"At Hogwarts?"
"Yes"
"Wait... Aren't you the witch that had this incredible part in the battle of Hogwarts?" He asked.
Oh boy...
"Yes, I am"
"Wow, you were amazing! I didn't know that such a powerful witch would be that pretty though, " he flirted again. Then all of a sudden he grabbed my hands.
"Would you like to go out sometime?"
At this moment the door swung open and the man who I just left behind stepped into the pub. The moment he spotted me his face went dark.
He hurried over to me and Rian, who wouldn't let go of my hands.
"Get your filthy hands off her!" Severus barked at him. Ryan turned around to face him, still holding my hands.
"And who are you?" He asked.
Severus grabbed his color without meditation and pulled him away from me.
"I said: vet your hands off her, " he hissed. Rian pulled away now looking really mad.
"You should be more careful who you are talking to in this tone, " he aggressively gave back.
"And you should leave as long as you have the chance to."
Rian started pulling out his wand until the realization hit him.
"You are Severus Snape!" He exclaimed.
"What do you want from her?" He sounded scared.
"That's none of your concern, " Severus growled.
"You're a fucking death eater! I swear if you hurt her I will-"
"Watch your mouth, " Severus interrupted him coldly.
I had enough first he pushed me away and now he acted like I was his property. No thank you.
"That's it. I'm out of here!" I said putting money onto the counter.
Severus turned around abruptly.
"(Y/-"
But I stormed out... again only this time he followed me and also did Rian. Idiot.
Severus grabbed my wrist making me spin around again.
"(Y/n)! Please, listen to me!" He sounded so different. So broken and pleading.
"I can't handle the guilt and neither can I express my feelings. I'm sorry, " he sounded so hopeless. The fact that he told me this in the middle of a sidewalk in London with people all around to whites it said a lot.
I just stood there not being to say anything.
"I love you and I can understand if you don't feel the same way anymore but I need you to know that-"
But he didn't get any further because of me shutting him up with a kiss.
When we separated again both of us were breathing slightly heavy.
"It's alright. I shouldn't have left." I told him still pretty close to his face.
"I had to tell Kingsley because you are the most important human being for me. I couldn't live with you locked away and especially not if I could do something about it." I breathed.
Severus seemed to realize that we were standing in a public place at this very moment because he immediately stiffened. I took my arms from his neck.
"We should probably leave..." I said. He nodded so we started walking to a side ally in order to apperate, leaving a confused Rian behind. As we reached an abandoned alley I grabbed his arm. Time to take him home...A/N: opinions? 🥺
