Ross then left, unaware of the thread he had just pulled that would lead to the unravelling of our family.
Not saying a word, but exchanging ominous looks, as we made our way to the lounge. I slumped down on the long sofa, towards the edge of the group. I was trying to understand what Ross meant.
Was he genuinely being serious? Did people not want me here unless I was part of their army of saviours and that those army of saviours now can't control who to save or not? This was some seriously evil blackmail, that was for sure.
He also added that I was requested at the signing in Vienna as it will help leave a good impression. I didn't even understand this. I got why people were angry at Wanda but what on Earth did I do?
The others were taking it in turn to flick through the Accords while I wondered if they had got to the part where I would get kicked off the planet if I didn't sign.
I could kind of tell which of the others were considering signing. It wasn't hard to figure out. Rhodey seemed to have an instant agreement with Ross, which made sense considering his history in working for the government. Nat seemed on the fence and deep in thought. After reading the Accords, she kept glancing my way, trying to read what I was thinking.
Tony was messing around with cups in the kitchen trying to distract himself from his own thoughts as I knew he would be thinking about Charlie Spencer. After his mother confronted us, I knew he was barely thinking of anything else.
You could actually see the Mind Stone working in Vision's head as he sat next to Wanda, the cogs in his 'brain' turning. Wanda seemed to be in a similar situation as me. She didn't really have much choice in the matter. If she didn't sign, they would probably put her in some sort of prison for being a risk or something awful.
Sam was just as, if not more, against signing than Steve was. He was starting to pace the room in frustration from no one saying anything. I could tell he was bursting to revolt against whatever anyone was going to say in favour of the Accords.
Steve was the last person to be looking though the book and I could tell by his hardened expression that he was not happy with its contents.
The babies had started to press on my bladder again, so I left momentarily to go to the bathroom and returned to a more tense and hostile environment than the one I had left.
It seemed that Rhodey and Sam had started to speak their minds on the situation, their ideas conflicting.
"Secretary Ross has a Congressional Medal of Honour, which is one more than you have." Rhodey argued in defence of Ross as I walked back over to the sofa where Steve was now sat, probably waiting for me to return.
"So, let's say we agree to this thing. How long is it gonna take before they LoJack us like a bunch of common criminals?" Sam argued back and I caught Tony rolling his eyes to the back of his skull at his words as he now reclined on the sofa.
"117 countries want to sign this. 117, Sam, and your just like, 'No, that's cool, we got it'-" Rhodey tried to prove whatever point he had. I only really understood that as 117 countries that would kick me out if I didn't agree with them.
"How long are you gonna play both sides?" Sam interjected, questioning Rhodey's integrity, which I'm sure was quite a sting.
Steve finally closed the book and placed it on the table in front of us, sliding his hand onto my knee and giving it a supporting squeeze. He must know now that I didn't have much choice in this and would most likely have to sign.
