"Wake..."

My body darted up into the air.

I thought I died? Did someone save us or was Thanos back to take more from me? I glanced up and recognised the interior to be a kind of ship. I then looked around and saw an incredibly odd assortment of beings.

My body felt like it was about to explode with emotion. I was feeling so many different intense feelings that I didn't know how to handle. My breath was far from steady, and my vision blurred as I panicked.

It had barely been a second after waking up before I started yelling defensively and leapt off the table I had been led on and tried to get away from the people around me.

I shoved one person out of the way without even looking at them before I bumped into a blueish man who had red markings all over his torso, face and arms and he instinctively punched me directly in the nose.

I had to hand it to him. It was a good punch. But I could do better.

I used any power I had in my body and charged it to my fist before whacking the man in the eye, hitting him back, way harder.

He fell backwards with the force, clutching his eye while screaming. "Ow! My eye!"

I pushed past him as he wailed dramatically before getting far enough away to prepare my defences. I held my hands up ready to fight before looking at their faces filled with fear and confusion.

"Woah, woah woah! Calm down lady!" A man with awkward sideburns spoke with his hands held out calmingly.

If these guys were with Thanos, they wouldn't be afraid, confused or be telling me to calm down. Instead, they wouldn't have bothered waking me and would have killed me before I had the chance to open my eyes.

"Who the hell are you?" I demanded, my hands still up, ready to fight.

The man stepped forward with a worried expression, clearly trying to diffuse the situation. "We're the Guardians of the Galaxy. This is Gamora," He introduced the woman to his right who had electric green skin and purple hair. She didn't smile but nodded slightly in introduction.

"Drax," He pointed to the man who I had punched and was still clawing at his eye. I knew the punch would have hurt but he was taking it a bit far. I raised my eyebrow at him as he stopped his clutching when his name was mentioned and stood up straight, pretending it hadn't happened.

"Mantis," He glanced at a woman who had the largest eyes I had ever seen. She had antennas above them and a general sense of curiosity and naivety. She waved sweetly, clearly not afraid or threatened by my presence and trusting me immediately.

"Rocket," He pointed at a strange, smaller creature that closely resembled a raccoon, but I could tell he wasn't their pet. He had his arms crossed over his chest and grunted in introduction, maintaining a tough expression that was similar to the green woman.

"Groot," He pointed at the tree-like creature sat on a chair, playing what looked like a video game. He looked up and watched the encounter before nodding to me with a small smile and returning to the game.

"And I'm Quill, but you might know me as Star Lord." The man finished with a sense of pride as he and I lowered our defensive hands, allowing myself to believe that these guys were here to help.

"Dude, no one knows you as Star Lord." The raccoon names Rocket snapped with a dismissive scoff as Quill looked offended but not sure of himself.

"Yes, they do-"

"I'm guessing it was your distress call?" The green woman named Gamora asked, stepping in front of Quill.

"You are here to help? Oh, thank God. God... do you have my brother?!" I sighed with relief before panicking again.
