As she wakes, Taylor can feel something drooling on her face. A rather unusual feeling for her in the morning, Joe doesn't drool. It startles her so her eyes snap open and she's face with a huge dog resting its face on hers, begging for food. Taylor groans, rolls over to avoid the dogs begging which inadvertently makes the situation worse because Kitty just jumps up and sits on Taylor.
"Kitty." She grumbles, trying to shove the horse-sized dog off of her. She hears a quiet laugh beside her, realising the fiasco has woken Joe. Taylor moves her head to face him, rolling her eyes.
"Joe get this dog off me." She whines, still completely exhausted from the lack of sleep. She feels him press a kiss to her forehead before he hops out of bed, grabbing the dogs collar and leading it down to the kitchen. A gentle sigh escapes her lips as she realises no more sleep will be coming for her this morning. After a few minutes, she drags herself out of bed and down to the kitchen so she can at least be graced with her boyfriend's presence.
Joe grins as she enters the room, his smile is infectious and a small one plays on Taylor's lips, despite how shattered she really is. She sits down at the counter, resting her head in her arms.
"Oh love, did the big scary dog keep you up last night?" He teases, knowing full well that's not what's been keeping her awake. She's incredibly grateful that he's trying to keep her uplifted throughout this week, god knows she needs it. Taylor just huffs, flipping him off without lifting up her head, she hears him laugh before he goes back to rummaging around the kitchen.
Taylor's mom had gone in for a surgery two days ago, her mom had asked her if she'd be willing to keep Kitty for the week while she recovered and Taylor had agreed, knowing she'd do anything for her mom. So she'd left her cats with Selena and Kitty had been dropped off here. That dog has gotten into so much mischief over the past few days that Taylor's practically been tearing her hair out trying to lock all the valuables away and hide any cables. Joe's laughed at her several times before being a knight in shining armour and dealing with the dog for her. He's a dog person, she'd always known that, and he gave that up when he moved in with her, considering she has three cats and all.
She's snapped out of her daze when Joe places a plate in front of her.
"Voila, French toast." He announces before sitting down beside her. Taylor smiles,
"Thanks babe, I appreciate the effort." She slowly picks at her food, not feeling super hungry at the moment but knowing she needs to eat.
"Are we going to the hospital today?" Joe asks softly, gently rubbing her back. Taylor just shakes her head,
"I think she's having enough visitors today, she said she'd see me tomorrow. The crowding gets a bit much for her." Joe smiles sympathetically,
"I can understand that." He murmurs. But Taylor doesn't want to keep talking about this, doesn't want the emotions to get away from her so she just nods.
"I'm just going to get some work done today, is that okay?" She puts her fork down, sees Joe furrowing his brow.
"T, you're exhausted love. Don't you want to just take it easy the next few days? We could watch TV, maybe go for a walk?" She just shakes her head at his suggestions.
"I don't want any risk of being seen this week, I can't. And I have so much work to do, I'm okay, I promise." Joe dropped it after that, she knows he's letting her do her thing, he's taken a huge step back and she's grateful for that. She can't imagine trying to fight him this week, to try get him to understand. He's always been incredible in that way, never questioned her decisions like this, or pushed her when he knew she was going through something. He always just stayed in the background and was there if she needed. Taylor knows he probably has opinions about this, but he's not forced his way into any of it. They've both always been on the same page about that, a partner should support, not intrude.
