Taylor kicks off her shoes, lets out a sigh as she enters her empty apartment. Well, her cats are somewhere - probably sleeping considering it's almost 3am, they don't typically wait for her. She's spent the last couple of weeks going all our for promoting her latest re-recording, red. It's been so much fun, in ways she could've never expected. She's tired of course, she hasn't quite done this much in a couple of years - but she's a good tired. A fulfilled tired. Now she's looking forward to take a shower and curling up in bed, probably with her phone pressed to her ear, talking to her boyfriend who's off filming in Panama. It's the first time in two years they've not been in the same place for more than a couple of days. It's been odd, but the two of them have been so busy it hasn't been the end of the world. Nights are hard - for her at least. She misses him.
As she takes her warm shower, Taylor can't help but mull over everything that's gone down the past few days. Her fans have been incredible, everyone she's spoken to has done nothing but sing her praises - whether it be interviewers or snl people or her friends and family. But of course the same criticism from when red had first been released is now resurfacing which does sting a little, but she's choosing to ignore most of it. The only thing really bothering her is that it's the kind of criticism she'd always feared would tear apart her current relationship - that it would start to affect her partner, that he'd become resentful of it eventually. But again, she tries not to think about that. She knows Joe would tell her not to worry about it, that he's in this for the long haul - and he is, she knows he is. He's proven that time and time again.
Once she finally steps out of the shower, she dries off - throws his shirt over her head before climbing into bed, completely exhausted. She picks up her phone to call Joe, it only takes three rings before his warm voice comes through the phone.
"Hi love, how are you?" She can't help but smile, any previous doubts get completely washed away.
"I'm good, tired - but good. How are you?" She speaks softly, enjoying the moment the two of them get to share.
"Good, this project is exciting! But hey, how was SNL tonight?" She can't help but feel warm inside that with him the conversation is always two ways. He never just talks about himself, always makes an effort to talk about her too.
"It was fun! The fans were super excited - being in front of a live crowd is one of the things I missed the most." She stifles a yawn, not wanting this conversation to end.
"Taylor go to sleep - we can talk in the morning." Of course he noticed. It's been five years and yet sometimes it still surprises her how observant he is.
"But I'm not tired" She whines, protesting like a little kid. She hears him laugh
"Oh love, you're exhausted. I know you are. FaceTime me when you wake up! We can talk more then, I promise." She gives in, knows he's probably right.
"Okay. I love you." She murmurs, her heart clenching knowing they can't hold each other through the night. She needs him tonight.
"I love you too T. I'll talk to you soon okay?"
"Okay." The line disconnects and Taylor lets her phone fall somewhere in the sheets before giving into her droopy eyes - falls into a deep sleep.
                              -------------------------
The next morning, Taylor wakes up late - having forgotten to se her alarm. She flies out of bed, rushes to get ready for her full day and in the process, forgets to call Joe. It isn't until she's sitting in the back of her car that he calls her. Her heart drops when she realises she'd forgotten.
"I'm so sorry." She murmurs into the phone, having answered quickly.
"It's okay, don't worry about it. What are you up to today?" He sounds calm, not at all panicked like Taylor feels.
