Taylor was back in her home studio. She'd pretty much been in here all day for the past week. She hasn't been able to stop writing about literally everything going on in her life, all the emotions she's feeling. She's bitter, angry, upset and hurt about being cancelled, the whole snake thing. She's also anxious but happy in a weird way, because of Joe. Taylor's found herself crying a few times while writing these songs because writing about what's going on just makes her feel like a weight is being lifted off her chest. Music is the one thing that's always been there for her and writing is her main coping mechanism with anything so it makes sense that she'd be writing a lot right now, considering so much has come at her over the past few months.
Taylor had entered this room just after they'd eaten breakfast and before she knew it, the sun was setting. She sits up properly and stretches her arms above her head. She's exhausted from having been writing pretty much for the entire day. Taylor feels bad, she hadn't meant to get that carried away with her writing session, she'd neglected her boyfriend all day. She looks out the window for a few moments, enjoying the warm colours filling the sky before sighing lightly and standing up, rubbing her eyes. She opens the door and walks out to the living room, where she finds Joe scrolling through his phone on the couch. Taylor sheepishly walks over to him, sitting down beside him. He immediately shuts off his phone and smiles at her.
"Good writing session love?" Taylor mentally breathes a sigh of relief that he isn't mad that she practically ditched him all day.
"Yeah, I think so. Sorry I left you alone all day." She throws her legs across his lap
"No problem, I just chilled out and caught up on some emails and TV shows I don't normally watch." Taylor grins wrapping her arms around his neck and leaning her forehead against his chest, feeling the exhaustion set in. It probably didn't help that she hasn't really eaten all day.
"Tired?" Joe asks, wrapping his arms around her body. Taylor nods, moving her head up to the crook of his neck and breathing him in, pressing her face into his warm skin.
"I'm going to order food for dinner? Feel like anything in particular?" He says softly, playing gently with the ends of her hair.
"No, just order whatever." Taylor feels one of Joe's arms move from her body to his phone, assumedly ordering food. He very quickly returns his arm to her waist and she sits up to look at him. Joe reaches up to tuck a stray strand of her hair behind her ear. Taylor presses a gentle kiss to his lips and smiles.
"So, how many songs did you write?" Taylor shakes her head and looks down,
"Not sure. A fair few though. Half the time I didn't even realise I was writing a song until I had it all written down. Who know what will even happen to them though." She feels the crushing weight of not knowing what her future holds come crashing back down on her shoulders. She has no idea if she's going to be able to continue doing what she loves most in the world. Releasing music. Performing. The whole world seems to hate her at the moment and she's scared that won't blow over and she'll never be able to do her job again. Joe snaps Taylor out of her own thoughts by lifting her chin up, so she's looking into his eyes.
"It's going to be okay." He says softly and Taylor feels tears spring into her eyes. Joe immediately pulls her body to his, rubbing her back gently. She can't stop crying, she's lost so much because of this situation and her fears are too real. Of course there's a chance she'll never release music again.
"Please stay with me, don't leave me like so many people did." Taylor chokes out, holding Joe as tight as she can.
"You don't need to worry about that. I'm not leaving you. I'm here to support you through all of this, through anything that might happen. I promise. I know the writing is helping you, so don't stop it. Do what you need to do, I'm not going anywhere." Taylor feels herself calm down at his words and her tears slow.
"Thank you." Taylor sits up and sees the concern in Joe's eyes.
"Anytime love, you know that." They both smile at each other and the doorbell rings, signalling that food has arrived. Joe jumps up to go grab it. When he returns, he's got two pizza boxes in his hands,
"I think what we need tonight, is pizza, wine and some chill out TV!" Joe declares placing the pizza boxes on the table in front of her before disappearing into the kitchen and returning with a bottle of wine and two glasses. He flicks on the TV to Friends and Taylor starts eating, realising quickly that she's pretty hungry.
Once the two of them are finished eating, Taylor curls up against Joe who has his arm firmly around her body. She's so grateful for him, in such a short amount of time, he's become such a good support for her and he understands exactly what she needs in times like this. Boyfriends in the past would've told her to get over it, or complained that she'd ignored them all day, interrupting her writing process. Joe was letting her do her thing, hasn't complained once and still let her cry into him and comforted her. God, she loves him so much. The fact that he's willing to be with her like this, after she's been stripped of her shiny paint and the whole world against her just shows that he loves her for her, no outside influences have tainted this. It's just him and her, together.
"Joe?" Taylor asks, looking up at him.
"Yeah?" Joe's eyes meet hers, his attention fully on whatever she's about to say.
"I love you. Thank you for everything, I really appreciate it." Joe smiles, kissing her gently.
"I love you too Taylor. I'm here for whatever you need, you know that." Taylor smiles
"I know. And, you know I'd do the same right? Anything at all." Joe kisses her again, grinning at her
"I know babe. We're in everything together. No matter whether one of us is having some low times. We're good that way." Taylor nods and puts he head back against his chest. She feels Joe press a kiss onto the top of her head and she smiles again, her heart warm. She feels so much better now. With every day that passes with him and with writing, she's taking steps towards being okay again. They spend the rest of the evening cuddled up together, watching TV and occasionally exchanging kisses or lighthearted conversation. One things for sure, Taylor never wants this to change.
