As Joe sits in her private jet, feeling it take off - he can't help but feel a little relieved. He's on his way back to her now, happy to be going home to her, even if it just for a few days. He's completely exhausted, his press tour is running him into the ground. He's so proud of what he's done, the project he's just worked on. But wow, the interviews, campaigns and functions are all a bit much. That, and he's been separated from his girlfriend for a while now. She's spent so much time following him around everywhere while he's been shooting and for the first bit of his press tour, it had meant the world to him that she'd been there. But she'd had to return to work, to get ready for her next album launch. So when he'd flown to LA, she'd gone to New York. Both in seperate places working their asses off. Which is fine, of course. They are able to be separated, they'd just rather not be. And it's the most relieving thing knowing they're so close to being reunited again. Joe shuts the blind next to him, it's a five hour flight and he just wants to take a nap. He gets comfortable before quickly dozing off for a while.
Joe's jerked away by some turbulence, he sits up quickly, rubbing his eyes. He looks at his watch, the one Taylor had given him years ago, they must only be a few minutes from landing. Sure enough, a moment later, the pilot announces the landing procedure is beginning. Joe can't help but feel excited. He's so close to her now.
The landing goes smoothly and soon enough he's being ushered into the back of one of her cars. This aspect of life is something that still surprises him, the luxury of how she gets around - the extent of security that surrounds everything she does. He hates that she ever has to live in fear, or that she needs security around her just to be safe. But he's so grateful to them, that they do their jobs so well. He climbs into the back of the car, flicking her a quick text that he's landed and will be home soon. He feels a smile light up his face when she responds. God, it's almost stupid how in love they are. He knows in the beginning she'd been waiting for him to get bored of her - it had been something he'd had to talk her down from many nights before. But he never has. It's almost been six years and he can never imagine getting bored of her, she lights up his whole world, even now. He watches as the city of New York whizzes past his window, it's a journey he's become hugely familiar with over the past few years. They don't come to New York that often, opting instead to largely be based in London, but he spent so much time when they first met meeting her at her New York apartment. First it had been Cornelia Street, and then her actual apartment in Tribeca. Both are incredible places that she'd done so well at making them feel like home. He's glad she's not the kind of rich person who's house is just for show. She likes living in her houses, and making them feel cozy and homely. Add that to the long list of the things he loves about her.
Soon enough, he's pulling into her garage. He can feel his excitement grow as he steps out of the car, grabbing his luggage and thanking her driver. He makes his way up the stairs, fumbling to get his key out. But he doesn't have to. The door swings open and there she is, grinning. He immediately drops his bags and steps towards her, gathering her up in his arms and squeezing tight. His exhaustion evaporates, just like that.
"Hi!" He hears her giggle against his chest. He kisses the top of her head, the both of them gently swaying on their feet from the ferocity of the hug.
"Hi, I missed you." He murmurs, burying his face in her hair.
"I missed you too." She says softly, leaning back and reaching up to kiss him. The moments like this make all that crazy travel worth it, he'll take a 200 hour flight if it meant he could get a day with her. When they finally manage to let go of each other, Taylor helps him bring his bags inside. He sees Benjamin prance towards him, Joe bends down to scoop up the cat.
"Well hello there." He says to the cat, gently scratching behind its ears. He hears Benji purr and smiles. He's so happy to be home.
"How was your flight?" Taylor asks him as they move into the living room.
"It was good, thank you for the ride." He puts the cat down, winding his arms around her waist. She smiles, lowering her gaze a little.
"Anytime." She murmurs as he kisses her forehead. She wraps her arms around his neck, both holding each other close.
"I really missed you." She breathes out, just near his ear. He grasps her a little tighter now, gently kissing her shoulder.
"You okay?" He asks, noticing she sounds a bit more relieved than usual.
"Yeah, I've just worn myself out this week with everything. I like coming home to you, I just missed it this week when I was tired." She loosens her hold on him, looking him in the eye as they stand in her living room.
"I understand completely, I felt the same this time." He murmurs, gently rubbing her waist. She smiles, obviously content with his words. He lives for that smile, is so glad he can get it out of her. "We'll have to make the most out of these two days then." He gently grabs her hand, leading them over to the couch. He sits down and she curls up in his lap, both still holding onto one another.
"Tell me more about your week!" She asks, her head resting against his chest as they curl up together, both clearly exhausted from the week.
"It was alright, kind of over the interviews to be honest." He sighs, gently kissing her head again.
"That's fair, they're frustrating." He feels her gently tracing patterns on his chest, it makes him feel warm and tingly.
"At least I've been able to hang out with the crew, they're a fun bunch."
"They really are! I've missed them, we had so much fun in Belfast." He likes that she so easily gets along with people, he really enjoyed that aspect of Belfast too.
"I'm sure we'll hang out again soon."
"Yeah." She mumbles, her hand stilling on his chest. She's falling asleep, he can feel that. He can't complain though, would love nothing more than to take a nap with her.
"Love?" He asks softly.
"Mmm?" She groans.
"Do you want to go up to bed?" He feels her shake her head, gripping him a little tighter. He smiles, choosing to accept her rejection, instead he just moves them carefully so they can both lay down. He feels her snuggle up a little close to him, their legs intertwining as their bodies relax properly. He softly kisses her forehead, before letting himself drift off too.
"I love you." He hears her say softly, in her sluggish sleepy voice. The words have him beaming, he loves hearing that from her.
"I love you too T, always." He feels her grip tighten for a moment, before it relaxes again. He feels her fall asleep fully in his arms, much quicker than him. But it doesn't take him long before he joins her, curled up in each others arms - both finally feeling completely at ease.

Hi guys!! I'm super busy at the moment so I'm sorry this one's short! It just randomly came to me so I had to write it. I'm swamped with massive uni assignments at the moment and I'm in the middle of a teaching prac so there's a lot going on. In a few weeks though I'll be on holiday and I'm sure there'll be many more updates. I'm hoping to get a new chapter up for my other book in just over two weeks - thank you for your patience, I really appreciate you all!
