Taylor feels a giddy rush run through her body as she bounds off the stage, a smile spread across her face - unable to be removed. There's nothing like the high she gets looking out into the crowd and seeing her fans screaming the words she'd written back to her. She loves seeing how happy they are. Tonight is also special because Joe and his brother have come to watch the show which just puts an extra spring in her step, giving her more enthusiasm on stage because she wants to make him proud. As she walks towards her dressing room, she spots Joe up ahead and speeds up into a run, flinging her arms around his neck. She feels his arms hold onto her tightly,
"That was so incredible, I loved it." Joe whispers to her before gently kissing her forehead. This is probably the most public they'd ever been with their affection - neither one of them normally feel comfortable doing so, but there's something about the energy tonight and neither of them can help it. She meets his eyes, smiling brightly at him before hugging him tighter, her head resting in the crook of his neck for a brief moment. When the couple finally remember there are others in the room - they pull apart, Taylor giving Patrick a quick hug
"Damn Taylor, that was pretty cool." Patrick says excitedly, high-fiving her. She grins at him
"Thanks, I'm so glad you could make it tonight!" She then turns to give her mom a hug who is also quick to congratulate her. She just can't wipe the huge smile off her face! She quickly turns back to Joe who puts his arm around her shoulders, walking her to her dressing room.
"Y'know you looked awfully hot on stage tonight." He whispers, causing her to giggle and blush like a teenager. She playfully hits him, letting him know silently that they can't be that way here. His lips meet the side of her head as they walk through the door to her dressing room. They plonk themselves down on the couch, Taylor still sipping her water. She can feel the exhaustion setting in - but she's just so happy it doesn't even faze her.
Fifteen minutes pass, of just her and Joe curled up on the couch - him praising her performance and her just blissfully enjoying them being in the same room again. This kind of travelling is hard, particularly when the person you love most can't be with you all the time anymore. So it's moments like this that she craves the most - he'd flown in this morning just to be here for her. Eventually, Taylor groans before getting out of his lap. She gets changed before letting her team come in to fix her hair and makeup. Joe just sits there, making small talk with everyone - he seems happy enough and she smiles just watching him. Soon enough, she has to rush out the door to go greet some fans that are waiting for her in Rep Room. She gives Joe a quick peck on the lips, promising to be back soon.
She gets there and they all scream, putting a smile on her face. She loves their enthusiasm. And before she knows it she's meeting group after group, chatting with fans, taking pictures, sharing stories. She always loves this part of the night, it's something she has always done, her connection with her fans is so important to her. She knows she wouldn't be where she is today if they weren't so dedicated.
Unfortunately, one girl manages to bring her whole mood crashing down.
"Taylor! I was just wondering, how did you get so thick?" Taylor just stands there, unable to form a response. The whole group of girls were silent, her friends looked horrified at what she'd just said. She knows the girl probably hadn't meant it the way she'd taken it, but being in eating disorder recovery makes it very easy for Taylor to spiral. It takes her a moment to collect her thoughts but she takes a deep breath, doing her best to formulate a proper answer.
"Um, I just started eating better. I guess I'm happier and healthier now." She forces a smile, wanting to relieve the tension in the room. Taylor continues taking pictures with her fans - putting on her bubbly personality and talking to them all but her heart just isn't in it, for the first time ever - she can't wait for the night to be over.
