Patrick had been staying with them for the past couple of days while Joe's parents were out of town. Taylor was finding it interesting having a teenager in the house, she really likes Patrick and enjoys his company. It'd just mostly been the two of them during the day because Joe was currently busy promoting a film so was off doing stuff surrounding that. Tonight however, Patrick was going off to some party with his friends. Joe had given him the okay and she figured it was all normal stuff considering he was a 17 year old boy, not that she knew much about being normal at that age. She'd been off promoting her album and playing gigs back then.
Joe and Taylor are lounging on the couch, enjoying their moment together. Joe had managed to come home early and she was basking in it. Taylor finds herself really missing Joe when he's off working all the time. That's what it's like to be in love, no matter how short or long the time apart is, you're just counting down the time until you see them again. Patrick is upstairs getting ready so Joe has his arms wrapped firmly around her, her head resting on his chest while mildly paying attention to the TV playing some random show in the background. She feels his fingers gently playing with her hair. These silent moments are what she loves about their relationship. There wasn't a need for conversation, the intimacy of being together and being able to hold each other, or run your hands through the others hair was enough.
Taylor hears footsteps running down the stairs and the two of them sit up quickly, turning around to face Patrick.
"I'm off. See you guys later!" Patrick has a cheeky grin on his face that just seemed to be infectious.
"Alright. Stay safe, please don't come home drunk. Your curfew is 11:30, so be back by then or I'll kick your arse." Joe warns, stepping into the adult role of taking care of his underage brother. Pat just winks at him,
"You got it." Before running out the door. Joe looks at me, rolling his eyes and grinning.
"I wonder if that kid actually takes in anything we say?" He says, wrapping his arm around her body, pulling her against him. Taylor lets out a breathy laugh, looking up at Joe.
"I'm sure he at least thinks about it" Joe laughs, pressing a kiss to her forehead. They resume their position laying on the couch. The combination of being wrapped up in his arms, enjoying the feeling of him rubbing her back and his scent that makes her immediately feel at home, no matter where she is, allows her to fall asleep in his arms and take a short nap.
When Taylor wakes, she sighs, pressing her face into Joe's chest, tightening her arm around his body.
"Hey love, good nap?" She nods, smiling when she feels Joe press a kiss into her hair. They lay there like that for a while, wrapped up in each others arms, their legs tangled together and just enjoying the peacefulness of each others company. Eventually, Taylor sits up and stretches her limbs. Joe sits up with her, wrapping his arms loosely around her neck. Taylor finds herself getting lost in his blue eyes when suddenly Joe leans in, pressing his lips to hers. She parts her lips slightly, deepening the kiss for a moment before they pull back.
"I love you." Joe murmurs, making Taylor's heart melt. She throws her arms around him, pulling him in for a tight hug.
"I love you too."

Taylor was still downstairs watching TV, not quite ready for bed yet. Joe had gone upstairs a little while ago, he had an early interview tomorrow and she knows he didn't sleep well last night. When he gets busy like this, she knows he often feels overwhelmed or worked up and it results in him not sleeping properly. Taylor just needs an hour to focus on something else before she joins him. Suddenly she hears her phone ring, she looks at the caller ID and realises it's Patrick. An unsettling feeling spreads across her body as she picks up the phone.
