Here's my first sentence starter! Hope it's okay...

----------------------------------

"As your mom I don't think you should date her" Joe's ears start ringing when he hears those words leave his mother's mouth. He'd gone home to visit her after having spent most of his time with Taylor where she's staying. He'd decided that now would be a good time to tell her who he'd been spending so much time with.

"What? Why?" He's genuinely shocked. Joe didn't think his mother was the type of person to say something like that about someone she'd never met before.

"I'm just looking out for you. You must know how crazy her life is, just take one look at any news article about her. I don't want you getting caught up in that, surely you don't either? Your clean image will be gone, even before it's had a chance to form." Her words are so similar to what Taylor had told him before they'd started dating, and even still when they'd first gotten together.

"Mom that's not fair. None of that bullshit you read on the media about her is true! She's nothing like what they say!" His mother frowns and sighs,

"The point isn't whether what they say is true or not. The point is that you'll be swept up in all of it. People will be against you just by association." When Taylor had told him all of this, he didn't care. He still doesn't.

"I don't care." His mother's mouth drops open and he continues,

"Why should I care what they say about me? If it's not because of her, they'll find some other reason as to why I'm not good enough. That's just the way the media works. I love her, if the media wants to tear me apart then let them. Being without her would be worse than any of that. I know it's early days but I have a good feeling about this. I've never cared about anyone like I care about Taylor." His mother's face softens and she smiles a little.

"I can see that. Look, obviously you care about her and no one can stop you from dating her. All I'm saying is be careful okay? You're my son and the last thing I want is for you to get caught in the middle of her crazy life. I don't want you getting hurt." Joe calms down a little, he knows his mother is just looking out for him but he needs her to understand.

"I promise you, she's nothing like what the media says. Trust me. She's going through a lot at the moment. We've decided to keep this relationship private, she wants it that way. Just...please try not to leap to any conclusions until you actually meet her." Joe's mother sips her tea and nods.

"Is she here in London?" Joe smiles and nods,

"Yeah, she's spending all her time here at the moment. She doesn't want to go back to America for a while, I know that much, but obviously her family and friends are still there." He can't help but think of what his girlfriend might be up to right now.

"What will you do when she goes back?" Joe shrugs,

"We haven't really thought about that yet. I guess if I'm not legally contracted to stay here for anything, I'd go with her. That'll just be the nature of our lives, considering we come from two different countries and what we do for a living." He adds his mothers question to his mental list of things he and Taylor still need to discuss.

Joe and his mother continue talking for a little while, catching up about everything. He hasn't seen her in a while. The time comes for Joe to say goodbye and go back to Taylor. His mom gives him a motherly hug,

"Do bring Taylor around sometime, I would like to meet the person who's making you so happy." Joe feels heat rush to his face but nods nonetheless.

"Oh mom, do me a favour and don't tell anyone about this. Not even Pat, Tom or Dad. These things seem to have a way of getting out and we really don't want it to yet." She nods, giving him one last hug before letting him leave.

"Drive safe! See you soon!" Joe smiles and waves,

"Yeah, bye!" Joe starts up his car, ready to get back to his girlfriend who he's sure is probably bored at home all by herself. His mother's comments are still in the back of his mind. He knows he can never tell Taylor what she said because she's already so worried about all of those things, and hearing that his mother had said that would lead her to panic even more and probably try push him away. The one thing Joe is absolutely certain of is that no matter what anyone says, no matter who tries to get between them, he'll stand by Taylor and love her for as long as he can.

Joe walks through the front door and is met with the smell of some baked good. He smiles, of course this is what she's been doing, he makes his way through the apartment and finds Taylor in the kitchen, moving cookies off a baking tray onto a wire rack. He makes his way closer to her,

"Hey babe! What have you been baking?" Joe sees Taylor jump and laughs,

"Joe! When the hell did you get there?!" He wraps his arms around her body, engulfing her in a hug.

"I just got home love." Taylor hugs him tight and Joe presses a kiss onto the top of her head. He immediately feels at peace and is so happy to be back here with her.

"Welcome back, how was your day? How's your mom?" Joe decides to just brush over the conversation, not wanting to tell her the full truth and upset her, besides, he knows for a fact that his mother will come around. He knows she'll love Taylor.

"Good, she told me to bring you next time." Taylor looks up at him, their arms still firmly around each other. Joe loves her eyes, and feels himself getting lost in them.

"Really?" Joe smiles, leaning down to gently kiss her.

"Really." Taylor grins which makes his heart melt. He feels like they just unofficially agreed that they're ready for that next step.

"Well you better not keep your mother waiting too long then!" She smiles cheekily at him. Her words confirm it, she's okay with taking that step. He is too. He can't believe that in a few short months they'd come this far. They'd come from Taylor flat out refusing to date him, simply because of who she was in the world, to her being ready to meet his family.

"Guess not, but for now, I want to spend the rest of the evening with my beautiful girlfriend." Taylor grins, wrapping her arms around his neck. He feels her stand up on her toes and their lips meet again, soft but passionate. God he loves her. When they part from each other, Joe finds himself already missing that contact but he knows they have all evening to cuddle up on the couch together. He watches Taylor continue moving her cookies so they can cool.

"So what have you been up to today?"

Their conversation continues lightheartedly throughout the evening, the two of them enjoying wine, food, and each others company. When the time comes, they both curl up together in bed, wrapped up in each others arms, exchanging words of love, and Joe knows he wouldn't have it any other way.
