Joe opens his bleary eyes, vaguely having heard the alarm he'd set. As his body wakes up more, he recognises the loud blaring, shutting it off quickly, not wanting that to be the way Taylor wakes. He knows she'll be happier if he gently wakes her at the last possible moment. He rubs his eyes, rolling over to look at Taylor's sleeping form. He smiles, completely enamoured by the woman he gets to love. She looks so peaceful, content in whatever dream she's having. Her breathing is even and she's completely still, clearly in a deep slumber. Her blonde locks splayed across the pillow. Joe sighs, hating that he's going to have to disturb her, but he knows once they get to their destination, she'll be happy. He'll get to see her beautiful smile brighten up the entire room. He quietly climbs out of bed to take a shower, telling himself he'll wake her up when he gets out.

He showers quickly, returning to their room and noticing Taylor still deeply asleep. His eyes flick to the clock, it's 5:30 am, they need to leave soon. He sighs, carefully sitting down next to her, the bed dipping slightly. He gently puts his hand on her bare shoulder, shaking her lightly.

"Come on baby, time to get up." He whispers, begins to feel her slowly coming to consciousness. His lips gently kiss her forehead in an attempt to soften the blow. Her eyelids flutter open, he watches her eyes wince at the light, she groans, grabbing the pillow behind her head and putting it over her face. Joe chuckles at her antics "Taylor, we need to leave in half an hour." All he gets in response is more grunts so he yanks the pillow out of her hands, throwing it to the floor. He hears her yelp and can't help but find this amusing.

"Jooooooe, it's still dark outside!" Her hands now cover her eyes, clearly she wasn't ready to be pulled out of her sleep just yet. Joe rolls his eyes, picking her up while ignoring her pleas to sleep.

"Love, we're going away for your birthday. You were so excited last night." He murmurs softly, trying to persuade her to feel less sleepy. She has her arms around his neck and she mumbles something into his shoulder about needing more sleep, in a tone similar to that of a five year old. Sleepy Taylor is always entertaining to him, she's never been a fan of mornings but he finds her behaviour endearing. Joe sets her down in the bathroom,

"Now, take a quick shower. You gotta be downstairs in 15 minutes okay?" She rubs her eyes, giving him a sleepy look which he decides to take as a yes. He gives her a quick peck on the lips before shutting the door behind him. He waits outside, but once he hears the water running he takes it as a safe bet that she'll start getting ready, so he heads downstairs to start breakfast and make his girlfriend a nice cup of coffee.

Once Taylor is dressed and fed, he packs up the car before leading her out the door. Once she's buckled into the passenger seat, he makes his way into the drivers seat. It's a three hour drive, and he knows he'll be doing most of it. As they set off, Taylor laces her fingers through his and he smiles softly at her, kissing the back of her hand. She leans over to him and places a kiss on his cheek as he keeps his eyes on the road.

"Thank you for going away with me." She murmurs sleepily,

"There isn't anywhere I'd rather be." He says softly, can see her smile out of the corner of his eye. He feels her gently kiss his hand, he enjoys the peacefulness of being here with her.

Half an hour in, Taylor's head is resting against the window, her eyes are close and he knows she's sleeping. She always looks so peaceful when she's asleep, his heart just bursts at the sight of her. He's completely in love with her, isn't even sure he has a say in the matter. Their souls are connected in a way no one could ever really explain. Joe does his best to avoid any potholes or bumps in the road, wanting her to be able to rest. He looks over at her occasionally to make sure she's okay. He's so lucky to have her in his life, he knows it everyday, praying it will always stay this way. Loving her is his favourite thing to do. Knowing she loves him just as much is mind blowing to him, the fact that she chooses him over and over again. He wishes his teenage self could see him now, completely content with life, sharing it with the woman he loves.
