Taylor has received her dress today, it had been altered and she is supposed to try it on to make sure it's absolutely perfect. And she had, she'd put it on and now she's standing in front of her mirror, trying her best not to cry. The dress is absolutely beautiful, but she hates how she looks in it. She hasn't really worn anything like this since 2016 and it's absolutely killing her inside. Her body had been something she'd spent years fighting. Years accepting. And somehow, all her work as been shred to pieces because of this one fucking dress.
After a few minutes, Taylor manages to drag herself away from the mirror, tears slipping down her face that she hadn't been able to hold back. She hears her phone ring, sees it's Joe and wipes her tears away. His face pops up on her screen and she can't help but smile a little, she really does miss him.
"Hey! How's Belfast?" She asks, trying her best to appear as though she hadn't been staring at herself and crying for the past half hour.
"Good, good. The hours aren't that bad so I'm not completely shattered. But hey, is that the dress? Let me see!" Her smile falters for a split second at his words
"Um actually I was just about to take it off, let me call you back in a second." She hangs up the phone and sinks to her knees, placing her head in her hands. She takes a few seconds to collect herself, knowing she doesn't have long, before she shakily takes off the dress. She looks down at it, wondering how on earth such a gorgeous dress could make her feel so damn awful. Taylor quickly pulls on of Joe's t-shirts over her body, wiping under her eyes again before calling him back. He picks up almost instantly,
"Hey...you okay?" He asks gently
"Yeah! It just isn't quite fitting properly yet so it was a bit uncomfortable but I'll send it back first thing in the morning." She says brightly, hiding her underlying insecurities. She isn't quite sure why she's keeping this from him but she just can't deal with it right now.
"Oh okay, well how was your day anyway?" The conversation follows a different path for the rest of their phone call but Taylor's mind is somewhere else. She can't stop thinking about it. Eventually, the couple hang up the phone, both of them needing to sleep. Taylor lets her body hit the bed, snuggling up under the covers and hugging Joe's pillow. God she really misses him, she doesn't want to tell him what's going on but she could really use his hugs right now. Slowly, but surely, Taylor slips into a deep sleep.
---------------------
The next morning, Taylor wakes up and just doesn't want to deal with anything anymore so she sort of just shuts down. Like she did for so many years in the past. She's determined to look good in that dress so that is all she's going to focus on today, nothing else matters. She leaves her phone on her nightstand, quickly changing into exercise gear before going to her treadmill. She spends an alarmingly long amount of time in that room, stopping only to drink water and go to the bathroom.
Finally, she realises her body can't do anymore work today and she practically collapses on the couch, breathing heavily. She gives herself 15 minutes to just lie there before walking upstairs and taking a shower. Once she hops out of the shower, she stares at herself in the mirror again. She tuns her hands over her stomach, trying to figure out if she could see a difference but she's pretty sure she can't. She's got three days until the brit awards to lose some pounds, Taylor pulls out the bathroom scale, standing on it and holding her breath. She's lost three pounds since yesterday. A part of her is relieved but a voice inside her head is telling her she needs to lose more. She's just now remembering that she hasn't eaten breakfast or lunch. She quickly gets changed into comfy clothes before walking into her bedroom. She hears her phone ringing on the nightstand but it stops before she reaches it. She looks at her phone, realising Joe has been trying to get ahold of her all day. Quickly, she calls him back.
