Taylor's decided that today is the day she's going to plant herself on the couch and not move. She's watching some TV shows she'd been meaning to get to for a while, at the moment it seems she all she has is time. After a while, she hears Joe's voice from upstairs, singing some random tune. She mutes the TV to listen, trying to figure out what exactly he's doing when suddenly he begins singing something she'd never heard before. He's written that, she realises. She listens to him sing it a couple of times before she makes her way towards him, intrigued. She knew he could sing, he'd done it a few times before but Taylor doesn't think she realised he had an interest in writing a song at all. She pokes her head in the doorway, almost sheepishly, not wanting to disrupt whatever he's doing but kind of wanting to join him because it sounds amazing.

"Hello!" She says playfully and Joe stops immediately, turning to face her and smiling.

"Hi!" He replies softly, she walks over to him and sits down next to him, resting her legs across his lap, his arms immediately wind around her waist.

"I like the song" Taylor murmurs, a smile playing on her face, unsure of how to ask him if they could write together.

"Really? I was just messing around, I dunno..." Joe looks at her, almost nervously. She winds her arms loosely around his neck and nods encouragingly.

"Um, so I had an idea..." She trails off, biting her lip for a moment trying to figure out the right way to phrase this.

"You can say no, and we might totally hate this but uh...can I write with you? I really like the bit you were singing and it kind of sounds like a chorus, like an apology of some kind. But like I said, you can say no, it might be weird but like I figured, why not try it? I mean neither of us are doing anything right now but of course our relationship comes first and I don't want things to get tense or anything but-" Joe cuts her off with a gentle kiss, Taylor realises she'd started rambling.

"Sure, we can try it! Why not, right?" Joe tucks a loose piece of hair behind her ear,

"Okay...okay! But like if any point you hate it, just say so, I won't mind, I promise!" She feels Joe press a kiss to her forehead

"Okay. So where do we start?" They both smile at each other, Taylor can't quite believe they're going to do this. This pandemic is really working in mysterious ways. The two of them spend the next hour writing the song, neither one of them hating it whatsoever. What Joe had been singing earlier became the chorus and they ended up writing the song as an apology from a male's perspective, singing to a girl called Betty about a huge mistake he'd made. They'd named him James and decided that he'd spent a summer with some other girl but had decided that Betty is the one he wants to be with.

Once they finish, they both sit back, grins on their faces as they high five.

"I can't believe we just did that, it's amazing!" Taylor exclaims excitedly, grinning like a kid on Christmas morning.

"Thanks for including me love" Joe says softly, his expression practically melting Taylor into a puddle.

"Oh babe, you started writing this...thanks for letting me continue writing it with you" Taylor moves over to him, crawling into his arms, feeling completely content. She'd just written a song with her boyfriend, it just feels so surreal to say that but they'd just created an amazing lyrical composition. They hold each other close in silence for a little while, what they'd done just sinking in happily for the both of them. Joe presses a kiss to the top of Taylor's head, pulling Taylor out of her reverie, she looks up him smiling

"I love you" She murmurs, her heart feels so full right now that he'd been willing to work with her, and that they'd done it so harmoniously.

"I love you too, that was incredible." They both smile again and Taylor rests her head against his chest, enjoying the peace and happiness that was surrounding them in that moment. Suddenly Taylor lifts her head from his chest and gets up
