Belfast had been a place Taylor never expected to get to. It wasn't ever a stop on her tours like Dublin is, it was just a small city in Northern Ireland that hadn't necessarily piqued her interest all that much. Besides, travelling for leisure and being able to tour was something Taylor had all but given up. That was however, before Joe. She'd given up on so much before Joe, but he'd shown her that these things are possible for her, she can fly under the radar and enjoy a nice holiday in beautiful places like these. So here she stands now, staring at her reflection in the mirror as a random moment of humility washes over her. The gratefulness that her life had taken this turn, she's so fulfilled in every aspect of her life.
She's getting ready for their date-night. He's been here for work, shooting a TV show that he's super excited about. They'd decided when he got the role that Taylor would come with him, she'd known she could. She's not touring and her vocals can be recorded from home nowadays - a piece of technology she's insurmountably grateful for. So she'd come along, spending her days visiting sights, laying about their hotel room. And the best part had been when Joe would come home each day and tell her enthusiastically how his day had been, she loves seeing him talk about all of this stuff, can't get enough of him. She never wants to go back to face-time and long distant phone calls or texts. She wants to able to always go wherever he goes. That isn't their reality, because one day she'll return to touring and they'll go back to spending weeks apart. But Taylor knows that she'll be sure to schedule much more time for them to be in the same space whenever that happens. Quarantine has brought the closer together, both of them much clearer on their priorities in life and their relationship.
Taylor makes her way out of the bathroom adorned in a white floral dress, simple makeup. Her boyfriend looks up at her, looking as handsome as ever and grins. She makes her way over to him, gently cupping his face.
"Well don't you look handsome." She giggles, gently kissing him. He stands up, his fingers gently brushing over her skin as he slings his arms around her neck.
"Says you." He murmurs, his blue eyes looking directly into hers. Almost five years, and this interaction still gives her goosebumps. She's completely and utterly in love with this man. She reaches up for another kiss, before quickly wiping her lipstick off his lips.
"Are we ready to go?" She asks, lightly squeezing his arm.
"We are." He smiles, grabbing her hand as they make their way out the door into the warm evening. They make their way quickly into the back of the car, Joe's hand never leaving her own.
"So can you give me any hint as to where we're going?" She asks, smiling up at her boyfriend and batting her eyelashes. He laughs,
"You're so impatient, we're almost there love." He places a kiss on her forehead, which is enough to make Taylor contently drop her begging.
The car pulls up to the front of a fancy-looking French restaurant. It looks so beautiful and Taylor finds herself in awe. They quickly make their way out of the car and get hustled through the doors where a friendly waitress greets them and leads them to their table. She notices the staff have picked up on who she is, feels the occasional glance but tonight she honestly doesn't mind at all. She grins at her boyfriend across the table, squeezing his hand
"You've done it again babe, this place looks incredible!" She exclaims excitably as she looks around.
"I thought you might like it, wanted to make our last night memorable." He says softly, gently stroking her hand with his thumb. Taylor just feels soft, her heart expanding more at his words.
"It's perfect. I love you." She brings his hand to her lips, leaving a gentle kiss.
"I love you too. Now, what would you like to eat?"
