Taylor looks at herself in the mirror, pleased with how casual she looks. She knows that today isn't something to be dressing up for, the aim is to blend in as much as possible, despite knowing that she'll still be recognised to a degree. She grabs her hat before quickly walking downstairs. With every step she takes, she feels her anxiety spike slightly. She wants to be able to do things like this but she knows they'll be followed. She sees Joe downstairs waiting for her and he smiles at her, wrapping an arm around her waist and placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"You look nice." He says softly and Taylor can feel heat rising to her cheeks.
"Thanks." She murmurs, looking down slightly. She feels Joe's grip loosen around her waist and she sits down at a chair to put on her boots.
"You know it's going to be okay right?" He asks gently and she nods. Of course it will be, technically. Nothing bad will necessarily happen. But it'll just feel like the hunt for the two of them will be on, people with their huge camera's following them around. Doing this on foot wasn't something they tended to do. They usually drove or got driven wherever they went but they wanted to walk Patrick and Tom around after lunch so they figured might as well walk to the restaurant too. At least, that's what she'd agreed to two weeks ago. Now that it's come to crunch time, she's feeling anxious about the whole thing. She stands up and faces Joe, taking a deep breath.
"You ready?" He checks and Taylor nods, breathing in deeply again. Joe leans down and presses a gentle kiss to her lips which immediately begins to calm her nerves, not completely, but enough to take the overwhelming edge off. He grabs her hand tightly and leads her out the door. Taylor feels her holding her breath at the first step out the door but slowly lets it out as they get moving. They walk in silence and Taylor can't help but look around her with every step they take, trying to spot any camera's that may be lurking around. She know's it's a matter of when they'll spot her, rather than if.
"I should probably let them know we're on our way." Joe murmurs and she releases his hand, opting to hold onto his arm instead. Joe takes off one of his gloves, holding it in his other hand as he texts Tom and Pat. They'd arranged to take them our for lunch while they were visiting New York and then show them around a bit afterwards. Taylor loved spending time with Joe's family, she gets along really well with Patrick in particular and Tom's company was enjoyable as well.
She continues scanning and then she sees the first camera, snapping pictures of the two of them  walking down the street. She feels her chest tighten and her hand instinctively holds tighter onto Joe. He looks over to her for a moment before looking up and spotting the camera as well. Joe puts his phone in his pocket and his glove back on his hand before firmly taking her hand, squeezing it three times and not letting go. She looks at him, smiling appreciatively at him before continuing to walk quickly in silence. She can hear the camera's taking their pictures and she hates it.
Finally, they make it to the restaurant, quickly darting inside before giving their reservation name and being led to a table to wait for Pat and Tom to arrive.
"They're about ten minutes away." Joe tells Taylor as the two of them are taking their coats off. She nods and smiles softly at him. When they're seated, Joe grabs her hand gently, kissing it softly.
"You good?" He asks and she shrugs,
"I will be." Joe rubs his thumb on the back of her hand and smiles at her.
"It was nice of your brothers to make this trip to New York." She says, changing the subject and Joe laughs.
"Believe me, Pat's been begging to come here for weeks. That kid is always up for an adventure to a new and exciting place. Besides, I'm pretty sure he loves you more than he does me at this point." Taylor shakes her head, laughing softly.
