Hailey’s POV

I tied my hair into a high ponytail after getting dressed for dinner at Kiara’s place. Just then, Paige walked in.

“Ooooh, you look delicious,” she teased with a grin.

“You’re so naughty,” I said, lifting my head as she leaned down to kiss me.

“You’re early, babe,” she noticed.

“I finished sooner than I thought.” She kissed my neck before sitting on the bed. I stood up and fixed my dress.

“How do I look?” I asked, smiling.

She licked her lips and made me giggle. “Stop it.”

“You look gorgeous, my love,” she said warmly.

“Thanks, baby.” I grabbed my purse — black, to match my shoes. “Ready? Shall we go?”

She stood and smiled. “After you.”

I giggled and stepped out.

Paige’s POV

The drive to Kiara’s took about thirty minutes, filled with laughter and random talk. Being with Hailey was easy — she unlocked a side of me few people saw. Everything about her made me feel good. Whenever I doubted myself, she made sure I felt special. I loved that about her.

At the gate, Hailey called Karen to let them know we’d arrived. We drove down the long driveway to the mansion.

“Okay, here goes,” I whispered, making Hailey giggle.

“You don’t have to be nervous, it’s just dinner,” she said, squeezing my hand.

“I know.” I smiled and stepped out with her.

A blonde woman greeted us warmly.

“Good evening, Miss Carson and Miss Finley.”

“Good evening,” we said.

“This way, please.” She led us to the dining room. The mansion was mostly white with gold accents. Family photos hung on the walls. I spotted Allison’s picture and smiled — I recognized her from the hospital visit.

“Hailey!” Kiara rushed over and hugged her tightly. “I didn’t know you were coming — I’m so happy to see you.”

“Paige asked me to be her date tonight,” I chuckled. “But it’s good to see you too.”

“Paige, you’re welcome in my home,” Kiara said, pulling me in for a hug.

“Thank you, Kiara,” I replied.

“No, thank you for coming,” she smiled.

“Where’s Dom?” I asked.

“He’ll join us soon.”

I looked around. The house was beautiful.

“You have great taste. This place is amazing.”

“Thanks, but I hired people to do this,” Kiara laughed.

“When you have the money, why not?” She said, laughing along.

We sat at the long table, already piled with food. I wondered what happened to the leftovers if we didn’t finish.

Two kids walked in — they looked like Kiara. I recognized Allison in her white dress, and her older brother, who looked around twelve. Allison had a plaster on her forehead covering a wound and gave me a confused look, probably because she didn’t know me.

“Hey Tim, hey Allison,” Hailey greeted.

“Hey Hailey,” they said.

“Um, Allison, I want you to meet someone special — a woman with a pure heart.” I smiled at her. “This is Paige Carson. Remember I told you a special good Samaritan saved your life?” I glanced at her mom. “She’s that person.”

Allison’s eyes widened.

“Really?” she said, surprised.

“Hi,” I smiled.

“Hi Miss Paige,” she said softly.

“You can just call me Paige,” I said gently, and she smiled.

“Okay.”

“Mom?” Allison looked at her mother, who gave a cautious look.

“Oh, thank you for saving my life, Paige,” Allison said quietly.

“You’re welcome, honey,” I replied.

“She’s so sweet,” Hailey whispered next to me just as Dom walked in.

“Sorry I’m late,” Dom said, sitting down. “Oh, Hailey.”

“Hi Dom,” she chuckled.

“I wasn’t expecting you tonight, but now I feel silly for not expecting you — you two are together, after all.” We all laughed.

“I know, right?” Kiara said. “I felt the same way when I saw her.”

“And I forgot to tell you I was coming,” Hailey said.

“Still, good to see you.” Dom smiled. “Okay, I’m starving — can we eat already?”

We chuckled. The kids giggled most of all.

“Dad, you’re always hungry,” Tim teased.

“You’re embarrassing me, young man,” Dom said, making us laugh again.

We ate while chatting about random things. After dinner, the adults moved to the living room while the kids went to their rooms.

“Paige, we have a surprise for you,” Kiara said, excited. Judging by tonight, I could say Kiara had some good in her — she’d been laughing and warm, so different from before.

“O-kay,” I said, curious.

She pulled out a small, gift-wrapped box.

“We hope you love it. Please accept this as a thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you did for Allison. You have no idea how grateful we are,” Kiara said, tearing up.

I smiled. How kind.

“I wasn’t expecting this. Thank you both,” Hailey said, taking my hand.

Kiara handed me the box. I opened it.

“I wonder what it is,” Hailey said.

Inside were keys. I frowned, confused — they didn’t look like car keys but keys to a door. I looked up at the couple smiling.

Hailey gasped, understanding.

“Oh my God, they bought you a house!!” she screamed, hugging me tightly.

“What?!”
