Me and Suki were getting ready to head out from the party, but I had to stop to pee right quick. I walked down the hall to the bathroom and I saw the light was on so I stood off to the side waiting on whoever to finish up. Man...I was beat, it's nearly 5 am and we done kicked it all night. When the door opened, I looked and seen Dom walking out. We locked eyes for a moment, but no words were spoken between us. She just went ahead down the hall.
"Why are we still doing this?" I asked her calmly.   "I don't really know what more it is left to say." she said as she walked back a little. "It was fun while it lasted, but it's no future in it. You're doing well, headed to college, and you have a great gi...woman by your side. Count your blessings Jay. Congratulations on graduation and good luck to you with everything." she said and it sounded sincere as she walked away. I went and just peed and washed my hands. I know there was so much more that needed to be said for real, but I could never get the words out when I'm in front of her. Fuck! I came out and Suki was standing there.
"You all good Jay?" she asked me and I smiled at her and grabbed her hand.
"Yeah, let's be out mama." I said as we walked towards the door.. "Alright C-Money, Iris...thanks for asking us. It was lit." I said as I shook his hand.
"This just the beginning brody. Hit me up later." he said to me.
"Fa sho." I said as we waved bye to everybody before we hopped in the car. I could tell she was feeling a little saucy for real, so I carefully drove back to her house to avoid any crazy turns. I don't know how well she holds her liquor but I didn't want to make her sick at all. When we pulled up tp her house, I looked over at her and she was smiling. "What?" I asked her and she shook her head.
"Just admiring you. I'm proud of you Jay. You overcame everything and graduated with a full ride scholarship. That's dope. I don't think you give yourself enough credit." she said and I took that in. It's not very often that I heard anything like that coming from someone other than my mother for real.
"Thank you for recognizing." I said to her. She leaned over and kissed me.
"You're welcome. Now come inside." she said with some authority. I smiled and got out of the car and walked closely behind her into the house. I made sure I locked the door behind us as I followed her into the bedroom. The first thing she did was pull the curtains completely shut since the sun would be coming up soon. She then got out of them heels and her dress. "You coming to get in with me Dwayne?" she asked me as she walked to her bathroom. I thought about it for a moment, hell yeah. I went ahead and got out of my clothes, but I kept the glasses on since she called me Dwayne. I walked into the bathroom and sat down in the hot tub with her. Man this shit felt good as hell for real.
"You look relaxed." she said as she slid over beside me.
"I am for real." I admitted to her.
"Can I ask you a question?" she asked me and I nodded. "So...I couldn't help but notice the expression on your face earlier when we were at the party. You still in love with her?" she asked me. That made me open my eyes and turn and look at her. "Be real." she said.
"It's complicated. I don't think it's that I'm still in love with her, but I still care." I said and she just nodded. "This is not taking anything away from you, because you're great! I absolutely like everything about you and I appreciate everything that you are to me." I told her and she pressed her lips to mine for a moment.
"I figured that. I'm not mad at that, it's life Jay. But it was almost like seeing your heart break outside your chest."
"My heart isn't broke. I still got you, right?" I said to her and she came over and straddled me and looked me right in the eyes.                                        "You got me, but how do you feel about me?" she asked as she kissed my neck.
"Truthfully..." it was hard to focus on the conversation when she had them lips on my neck. "...I fuck with you heavy shorty. Like you for real are a blessing. Never once have you judged me, even when I came at you with scenarios that probably deserved judgment. You've been supporting my journey since the moment you walked in on it. You're solid and most niggas don't treasure that enough. I see the value of having you by my side. I appreciate you." I told her and she looked in my eyes. "What?"
"I wasn't expecting that at all." she said. "Well...you asked me to be for real." I said and she repositioned herself some. "I cannot lie, I got feelings for you. But you know that though." I said to her.
"I didn't know that for sure. Jay, obviously I have feelings for you or else you wouldn't be where me and my son lay our head. I would never take part in therapy or none of that if I didn't see potential in you. But I'm also not dumb. I see it in your eyes every time she's around. Don't get me wrong, I get the history and she's a sweet girl. But are you really ready to let that go?" I understood Suki, she wasn't trying to get hurt and God knows I wasn't trying to hurt this woman at all.                   "The relationship, I been let go of. It's the guilt part. That's all."
"One of the hardest tasks for any human being is forgiveness of one's self. But, you got this. I'm here for you." she said softly and I embraced her in that moment. Maybe everyone was right. She really was everything that I needed for real.
