I was coming down the hallway and I seen the cleaners were in the building. It was odd for them to be there in the middle of the day like this. They usually only come on the weekend and at night at that. Before I could get to studio 4, Kev walked out and walked up to me.
"Everything okay?" I asked him.
"Not really. Cinco...man he just got some shit going on. But they got it under control now I guess." I looked at the seriousness in their faces as I watched them talk to him. I've seen that look, I know something was about to go down for sure. "What's wrong?" he asked me.
"Nothing. I just can only imagine what all he must be off into." I said.
"Yeah I never saw him like that. It's one thing to be weed high, but he was drunk, loud and off some other shit. I'm not sure if it's pills or hard drugs. It was something different for sure. I had to break down my story to him an..." he trailed off once Keish and Shakes walked in and looked around.
"What happened?" Shakes asked.
"I'll let yall talk." I said to Kev as I took Shakes down the hall with me.
"Are yall fighting?" she asked me.
"No not at all, it was a situation that had nothing to do with us at all. But I wanted to talk to you about an opportunity. Clearly you heard about us going on tour, but I don't know if you know about Open Mic night."
"The ones you host?" I nodded. "Of course, my brother goes there often."
"Great so what I wanted to do was talk to you about taking my spot for the summer." Her mouth dropped.
"Me?" I laughed.
"Yes, I've listened to your music and you're very poetic, I'd love for you to take the opportunity. And then when I'm back maybe we can host together if you like it." I said to her. Her entire face lit up as she hugged me. "Yes, I'd love to." she said. "Good! We'll have to meet with the owners and everything, but I'll let you know when and everything."
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!" she said. I had never seen so much joy in that child's face before now. I was glad to be able to help. Then Keish walked in.
"Can you give us a min Shakes?" she asked and she nodded and walked out. "You okay Love?" I asked her as she walked over to me and I embraced her, I knew she was about to cry for sure.
"Why would he do this?" she said between her sobs.
"He's finding his way, he'll come out of it. It's a phase boo. You know your brother took time to come out of that too though." "I know, but Kevin never did anything more than smoke weed. Like why does it seem like I'm always surrounded by drugs or people who can't say no to them?" When she said that, my heart broke for her.
"I can't speak for everyone, but I can own the fact that I do smoke weed. I mean I have a medicinal card because of my anxiety, but it hasn't lead me to other things because I am strong-willed. Sometimes people begin to feel bogged down by life and they turn to these alternatives for comfort. Not making excuses for them, but me and you both are blessed. We're blessed because we have these brothers that love and care for us deeply where we don't have to turn elsewhere. Often times, other people don't have that luxury. I know you care about Cinco, I respect that. Maybe you should show him that you care an advocate for his sobriety. Or...you may feel like that's too much for you and you can cut ties. Only you can be the judge of that though. I'll be here to support you on whatever decision you make. Take your time and decide and let me know." I told her as she embraced me. "Thank you." she said sweetly as I dried her eyes.
"Any time Love." I said as Kev walked in and he mouthed the words thank you to me. I nodded and told him no need to thank me. When she let go, she looked over at Kev. "You can talk to him now if you want." he told her. She looked at both of us and then walked out the studio. "Sometimes I don't know who really needed who. You're really good with her." he said walking over to me. "Perhaps we all needed each other. I always had sister figures since Martin's girlfriends were always close to me. I just never was in the big sister role. But it's so easy to become attached to her. She was raised well." I said to him. "Thank you. I'm hoping you feel the same way about being attached to me though." he said as he kissed my cheek.
"Of course crazy." I said with a laugh and he smiled at that.
"Better had." he said before he smacked my ass. "Mmm don't be trying to excite me."
"You know this is our spot though."
"Not with everyone here." I said to him.
"That's what makes it fun, the thrill of being caught." he said as he locked the door to the studio and turned the light out. "Just don't scream." he said walking up to me and pulling my dress up over my hips as he sat down on the piano bench and guided me to him. I did slide down on him and ride him. Man...it was hard not to make noise when this felt so good. "Mmm and gone try to tell me no as wet as you are." he said in my ear.
Only for you daddy." I said.
"Damn you almost made me nut." he said as I bounced on him a little harder.
"Do it." I said to him just before we both came. We tried to control our breathing for a moment before I got up and we straightened ourselves out. I turned the light back on and he lit the blunt.
"Man...that's what I needed." he said and we both laughed.
