"They cool as fuck for real. I'm glad we went and did that." Kevin told me as we were driving back to his house.
"Yeah they are. Not gonna lie, I didn't like Toya at first and she couldn't stand me either. But I'm glad we overcame all of that." I said with a slight giggle.
"What happened?" he asked me.
"She didn't know me and when she saw me and Tony talking, she took it out of context. Moving around to different bases our whole lives makes it almost unbelievable when you run back into people that you were out there with. For 5 straight years we seen each other everyday. When my dad didn't reenlist, we moved to Detroit and eventually they went to Miami." I told him. "Yeah that army brat thing has to be crazy for real. But I would feel some type of way too if I saw someone as bad as you talking to mine." he said as he looked over at me. "Is that right?" I said to him.
"Of course Beautiful." he said as he grabbed ahold of my hand and kissed it while we pulled into the driveway. He went and opened the door for me and helped me out the truck as we went into the house. "Hello Ms. Gladys." he said walking in and setting the keys down.
"Hey! Yall back earlier than expected." she said."Oohhh and look at yall looking spiffy." she said as she looked at us.
"Thank you." I said to her.
"You're welcome Sweetie." she said as she started gathering her things. "Keisha has a slight fever so I gave her some of that medicine up there, but she's been asleep for about another hour now. All her chores were done." "Thank you so much Ms. Gladys." he told her as he passed her an envelope and he helped her to her car before coming back in. "I'm ready to smoke and chill. What about you?" he said as he walked up to me.
"I'm definitely ready for that." I said as he grabbed my hand and lead me to the room. I went and sat down on the bed and watched him as he took his jewelry off and laid it on the dresser before he grabbed a shell and the weed and came and sat between my legs while he rolled up. I ran my fingers through his dreads while he rolled up.
"That shit be feeling good as hell." he said as he continued rolling.
"Oh yeah?" I said to him.
"Yeah, your touch is soothing period, but when you be doing that, it be relaxing me." I didn't expect that.
"Glad I could be of assistance." I said. He leaned back and kissed me. "So I have a question for you."
"Shoot babe, what's up?" he said to me.
"We talked a lot about me and everything, but not you. Well in terms of your past relationships that is. How is it possible that you were single?"
"A lot of people have their preconceived thoughts about me because I'm a rapper. They think it's just hella women throwing themselves at me. It's not. I mean girls try to sleep with me, try to get money out of me. But no one took the time to learn and understand me. My ex couldn't handle that I raise my sister. She always wanted to do extra stuff and I couldn't because Keisha needed things and my time. Then she'd always ask for money to try to make me compensate for time I couldn't spend doing what she wanted me to do. Eventually it got old and I caught her cheating anyway."
"I think the fact that you raise your sister and doing so well at it is admirable. I love that part about you. I mean I guess we have that in common since Martin and me took in Malachi." I said as he lit the blunt.
'We have a lot in common though. I mean we don't really have parents but are being parents essentially. Music is our outlet." he said as he passed the blunt to me. "We're young, black, educated, dedicated, and talented. We are America's worst nightmare." he said as I passed the blunt back and began to massage his shoulders. It sunk in on me what he was saying though. "Especially you. At 17, you're a graduating junior who won Salutatorian. In the making of becoming a star. That's big." he told me.
"Thank you. But you're just as big though. You're raising your sister, graduating with an Associate's degree and a high school diploma. All while being a local celebrity and branching out to be mainstream. Not to mention, you're a fresh 18." I said as I looked at the clock and saw it was now 12:03 in the morning and he smiled.
"Oh yeah, it is my birthday." he said as I got up and went to the closet in the hallway and came back with the gift I got him. "What's this?" he asked.
"Something I got for you." I told him. He opened it and seen the Nike outfits and then the circle Cartiers that I got him. Last he picked up the watch I got him. "Read the inside." I told him. he flipped it over. "The eager beaver could be the collapse of a damn. Trust the process." he smiled at that.
"You pay attention and retain info, I see." he said. He stood up and walked over to me and hugged me tight as hell. "Thank you baby. I didn't expect none of this at all." he said.
"You're welcome. Happy Birthday Love." I told him and before I knew it his lips were on mine and them hands started to slide down and he gripped my ass. I couldn't help but moan softly.
"Thank you." he said to me as I opened my eyes and looked into his.
"You're welcome." I told him. He released his grip on me and never broke the eye contact though.
"What?" I asked.
"Why you so nice?" he asked me.
"I just treat people how I want to be treated." I told him.
"I'll treat you even better, just stick with me and I got you. I promise you and my word is my bond baby."
