Nanala wasn't anyone's favorite in the Malfoy Manor. Her parents despised her, and her brother took all of the praise and love that their parents were willing to give. Her parents and brother despised her for being different. They were known for their blood supremacist ways, the fact that everyone in their family was a Slytherin, and that they supported the Dark Lord. Nanala didn't believe in any of the beliefs her parents and brother tried to force upon her. She was sorted into Gryffindor in her first year, and had been hated by her parents since.
Lucius, Nanala's brother, tried to support his little sister at first, but it didn't last more than a year. Nanala became friends with Remus Lupin in her first year, and by the next year, her brother had practically disowned her. When she would go back to the Manor for summer, she would be tortured and belittled for hours, until she hid away in her room, or ran off to a friend's house for the rest of the summer. She never went home for any other holidays, and she refused to write any letters to her parents.
"So, did your parents pick your husband yet?" Remus asked, as he pulled the girl into his compartment with his friends.
"No, they believe nobody will want me because I'm a blood traitor," Nanala replied, causing Remus and the guys to roll their eyes.
"I'm glad I got out when I did, otherwise Walaburga and Orion would've picked out my wife by now," Sirius commented, making James laugh.
"You couldn't keep it in your pants long enough to get married, Padfoot," He retorted, and the others chuckled.
Remus Lupin, or Moony, was Nanala's best friend since first year. He was the first person to talk to her after she was sorted into Gryffindor. He was the first person to show her kindness, and he was the first person to love her for who she was. He was the brother she always wanted, and he loved her as if she was his little sister. She was the first person he told about his "furry little problem," and she never judged him for it. Sirius Black, or Padfoot, was the one person who understood exactly what it was like to be hated in a pure blood family. The two would make crude jokes about their lives, ones they could laugh about, but others wouldn't find too funny. Peter Pettigrew, or Wormtail, wasn't really close to Nanala, but the two were friends, and shared a love for chocolate frogs. James Potter, or Prongs, was Nanala's friend, and sometimes the one person she could go to that would shower her with compliments and affection--when Remus wasn't around--like a friend would to make a person feel better. He was the jokester and he made her laugh as much as possible, the same as he did with Sirius.
The one thing only Remus knew though, was that Nanala had feelings for James. She had developed a crush on him in fifth year, and it hadn't disappeared yet. Two years her crush had seemed to present itself to her, but she was able to keep it from being evident to Sirius, Peter, and especially James. Lily Evans, a Gryffindor muggle born, was James's all-time true love. He had fallen for her in his first year, and had been flirting with her ever since. The redhead would turn him down every time, but the boy never seemed to catch on to the hints that the redhead wasn't really fond of him.
Nanala was friends with Lily, but she wasn't as close to her as she was the self proclaimed "Marauders." Matter of fact, according to the boys, she was the only girl Marauder in the group. Like James, Sirius, and Peter, Nanala was an animagus. Peter was a rat, Sirius was a dog, and James was a stag. Nanala was a maine coon cat, which was quite a large sized cat, but not as big as a lion or tiger. Her friends called her Kitty, which she and Remus didn't find too creative, but she agreed upon it anyway. She had become an animagus for Remus, not for a nickname, so she wasn't too worried about the nickname.
"So, over summer, I came up with a plan on how to get my Lily-Flower to finally want to be with me," James commented, pulling his friends' attention.
"What could you possibly have thought of now?" Nanala asked, causing James to smirk.
"Lily-Flower is always shooting me down, and she never seems to feel jealous of my random snogging sessions with other girls, so I've decided to get a fake girlfriend and ignore Lily-Flower until she finally realizes she has feelings for me," James explained, and his friends sighed.
"That's a good idea, Prongs," Sirius replied,"One problem though. Who are you going to have pretend to be your girlfriend, that won't tell Evans about your plan, or won't believe you're actually their boyfriend?"
James seemed to think for a moment, before his head turned to Nanala. Nanala frowned, as she crossed her arms. James didn't know she had a crush on him, so he didn't know that it was going to hurt the poor girl to pretend to be his girlfriend only for his benefit. Remus knew though, which caused the tall boy to shake his head.
"No, Prongs, you can't possibly think Kitty should--" He began, before James cut him off.
"It's perfect!" He exclaimed, grinning,"Think about it, Kitty. You'd be the perfect girl for the job. You and I could pretend so easily, and everyone would believe it. Nothing would be suspicious, so we wouldn't have to worry about too many questions," He commented,"Of course, we'd have to hold hands and do other couple-y things, like dates and a few kisses here and there, but it won't be terrible," He added,"Please, Kitty, will you be my girlfriend?"
Nanala knew she was going to regret it, but she couldn't help herself. She couldn't look into James's eyes that were full of hope and desperation and tell him no. So, with a quiet sigh, the girl nodded, and muttered a quiet, "fine," much to her and Remus's dismay. Remus knew she was going to be hurt, and he didn't want to see his best friend hurt in the end...
